Israel asked not to hear God's words directly, lest they die (vv. 22-27), and God commended their humility (vv. 28-31). Moses commanded them to obey all God's commands (vv. 32-33).

In Christ, God gives us grace to hear all His words in Scripture. He transforms our hearts by His Holy Spirit so that we want to obey Him. And like Israel, we should be careful to obey all God's commands.

Jesus's summary of God's law (Matthew 22:34-40) certainly applies to the Ten Commandments: we should love God supremely (Deuteronomy 5:1-15) and we should love our neighbors as ourselves (Deuteronomy 5:16-21). Such love arises from our hearts and should flavor our speech and actions.

We shouldn't act corruptly by worshiping false gods. Four reasons why:
1. God alone is Creator.
2. God alone is Redeemer.
3. God alone will consume with fire.
4. God alone is merciful.
