🌹 Happy Feast Day of St. Rosalie! 🇮🇹 the beloved patroness of Palermo, Sicily.

Born in Sicily in the 12th century, St. Rosalie holds a special place in the hearts of Sicilians and Italian Catholics throughout the world. Her devotion traveled with generations of Italian immigrants who brought with them their Catholic faith, traditions, family values, and deep devotion to the saints.

That heritage has special meaning here in our own community. Italian and Sicilian families have been an important part of the history and Catholic identity of our neighborhood and of St. Rosalie Parish. Their faith, traditions, sacrifices, and love for the Church helped build the community we inherited today.

As we celebrate St. Rosalie, we honor not only a great saint of the Church, but also the generations who kept their faith alive and passed it on to their children and grandchildren.

Today, that legacy continues as part of Mary Help of Christians Parish, where we remember and celebrate the traditions that shaped our Catholic community.

Social media is built for the light and the bright — announcements, celebrations, and the ordinary moments that connect us. This post is something different, and it deserves a moment of our attention.

On Wednesday, September 9, 2026, Louisiana will face a federal court hearing in Louisiana v. FDA — a case challenging the deregulation of mail-order abortion pills.

🙏Archbishop Checcio is asking the faithful of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New Orleans to seek the intercession of St. Joseph by praying the attached prayer, especially for these nine days leading up to the court hearing.

On Tuesday, September 8 at 6PM, the evening before the court hearing, a Prayer Vigil for Hope, Life & Justice will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Camp Street, just a few blocks away from where the hearing will take place in the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Our parish will host Adoration this Thursday evening following the 6PM Mass until 8PM. All are invited to bring your prayers for life before Our Lord, the Author of Life, truly present in the Blessed Sacrament.

A genuine pro-life witness is never simply a position— it is a way of seeing every person as unrepeatable, irreplaceable, and made in the image of God. It means standing for the unborn. It means praying for those who have experienced abortion, walking alongside mothers in need, supporting families in crisis, and building a true culture of life rooted in mercy and truth. Every soul involved deserves our love, our prayer, and our care.
