Are you new to Capshaw? Finding a place to belong at a new church can be overwhelming. How will I meet people? Where will I go to build relationships? How will I know if this is the right spiritual family for me? Answering these questions can seem daunting, so we’ve designed a class to help. In Starting Point, offered on October 11th, you’ll meet other people new to Capshaw and hear from a pastor what drives us as a church (our Values), what we believe God has called us to do (our Mission) and a picture of a future we’d like to see (our Vision).

We hope you will join us in the Commons Building at 9:15am on October 11th. This is during our regular Small Group time so there is a place for children of all ages. Check your children in at the Kids Building.

What a wonderful week at Capshaw as we kicked off our midweek ministries and participated in parent/child dedication. We had a full house for our Capshaw Academy study of the Apostle’s Creed, and over 85 women began a study through 1 & 2 Peter. Thankful for all the Lord is doing in the life of our church!

Are there specific truths that every Christian must believe? Is denying certain doctrines the same as denying the faith? The answer to both questions is yes. There are some statements that you cannot reject and still call yourself a Christian. This begs the question: what are those statements?

For centuries, the Apostles’ Creed has represented perhaps the best-known postbiblical creed. It does not contain everything we believe, but it is a beautiful summary of the Bible’s teaching. As Baptist theologian Al Mohler contends, “All Christians believe more than is contained in the Apostles’ Creed, but none can believe less.”

Join us for Capshaw Academy on Wednesday nights at 6:30 PM, beginning in September 9, as we look at what the church all over the world confesses concerning God, his church, and his glorious salvation, centered on Jesus Christ, who, as the Creed reminds, has come and will come again. (Also, consider joining us for dinner beforehand at 5:30 PM in the Family Life Center!)
