Several of our folks made their way to Kidron yesterday to help with the MCC meat canning project. According to Myrrl, Kevin showed his “excitement at shoveling salt into cans for nearly 4 hours!” Serving certainly comes in many forms.

One of our local Hartville friends, Freda Hathaway, strongly encouraged our Women’s Sewing to enter a couple of their quilts at the Stark County Fair this year, something they have not done before. And they won top honors for both! These quilts will both be auctioned at the Ohio Mennonite Relief Sale next summer and the proceeds will go to Mennonite Central Committee. Lovely work as always, ladies! What a fun thing to celebrate - even if they are a little uncomfortable with the recognition. ❤️

It was a beautiful day to have church together at Lake Mohawk yesterday. Great time of worship and sharing. Plus Miles Yoder was baptized, declaring his decision to follow Jesus! So wonderful. And then a delicious lunch and time to just enjoy the place and each other in this setting. Thanks everyone for all the good food and for the effort put out to make it another good day together at the lake!

On August 3rd, our congregation took a “field trip” to Behalt! at the Amish and Mennonite Heritage Center down in Millersburg, OH. For 12 weeks our Sunday morning services focused on what God has to teach us through the 500 years of Anabaptist heritage. And this study had a very interesting culmination in this visit. Many thanks to Marcus Yoder who hosted our group and led us through the amazing 10’x265’ mural painted by Heinz Gaugel illustrating that history. It was tremendously educational and inspirational.

A couple months ago some of our youth and sponsors volunteered their time at the Hartville Thrift Shoppe! HTS is one of the network of 100+ thrift shops throughout Canada and the US supporting MCC (Mennonite Central Committee). The shop was so happy to have them and they did a GREAT job! Volunteering our time at a place where "every purchase is a gift to the world". 💙

Was nice to be outside at Kevin Graber's home for our church service yesterday. Herm and Vince led us in worship bringing healing through song, music, and worship. And good food followed! Of course!

Over the next nine Sundays we will be doing a series called “Looking Back–Facing Forward: 500 Years of Anabaptist Faith” We will be exploring history, theology, practice, and more!

Looking Back on our history is an important way to ground and grow us so that as we Face Forward we might more holistically follow in the Way of Jesus today!

If you miss a Sunday you can watch it on Maple Grove Mennonite’s website. As always, everyone is welcome to come and participate with us!

Holy Week at Maple Mennonite Church:

Our Maundy Thursday service begins at 6:30 with sharing a light meal. After the meal, we will celebrate communion together, have a time for anointing, and embody our commitment to a servant’s life by washing feet.

A devotional resource for Good Friday will be available at the Maundy Thursday service (contact the church secretary if you want this resource emailed to you). You are invited to make time on Good Friday to utilize this devotion either individually or as a small group.

For Easter Sunday, we will share breakfast together at 8:30 and worship together at 10:00. There will not be Sunday School classes this Sunday.

All are welcome and invited to participate with us in the celebration of Holy Week!

Tomorrow evening, March 5th, at 7:00 Maple Grove will be having a simple Ash Wednesday service. We will reflect, worship, and receive the imposition of ashes as we enter into the season of Lent.

Let us come before God in a spirit of humility and repentance, knowing the path we are called to follow together.
