In 1971, Virginia high-school football was everything to the people of Alexandria, but when the school board was forced to integrate an all-Black school with an all-White one, the foundation of football's tradition was put to the test.

Every card handed out. Every badge with a name on it. Every door opened, room prepared, child welcomed, coffee poured, and act of service on a Sunday morning or throughout the week is done by a volunteer who cares. ❤️

Not simply to fill a time slot, but to love people well, share the love of God, and grow together in community.
Because serving isn’t just about what we do, it’s about who we’re becoming while we do it.
Jesus showed us what it looks like to serve with humility, love with intention, and put others before ourselves.

Thanks to every volunteer in every position, y’all are the best and truly what makes this community so special!

“They were severely beaten, and then they were thrown into prison. The jailer was ordered to make sure they didn’t escape. So the jailer put them into the inner dungeon and clamped their feet in the stocks. Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening. Suddenly, there was a massive earthquake, and the prison was shaken to its foundations. All the doors immediately flew open, and the chains of every prisoner fell off! The jailer woke up to see the prison doors wide open. He assumed the prisoners had escaped, so he drew his sword to kill himself. But Paul shouted to him, “Stop! Don’t kill yourself! We are all here!” The jailer called for lights and ran to the dungeon and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. Then he brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.” And they shared the word of the Lord with him and with all who lived in his household. Even at that hour of the night, the jailer cared for them and washed their wounds. Then he and everyone in his household were immediately baptized. He brought them into his house and set a meal before them, and he and his entire household rejoiced because they all believed in God.”
‭‭Acts 16‬:‭23‬-‭34‬ ‭

Praise doesn’t belong only on the mountaintop.
Paul and Silas praised God from a prison cell. Their circumstances hadn’t changed, but their hearts were surrendered.

Maybe praise for you today is singing in your car. Maybe it’s quietly giving God the struggle you’ve been carrying. Maybe it’s a few still moments at your kitchen counter, asking Him for wisdom. Maybe it’s choosing to love someone sacrificially because God’s love is overflowing from you.

Praise is where we meet God in the middle of whatever life holds. And it isn’t only good for us…it is for Him. When His glory becomes the focus of our lives, He can use our surrendered praise to bring hope to the hopeless, freedom to the captive, and victory to the defeated.
Take a moment to praise Him today, wherever you are.
