AMERICA NEEDS GOD… GOD NEEDS LEADERS…
“Let us make man in Our Image, after Our Likeness…” Genesis 1:26.
As a follower of Christ, and as a servant of His Church - not as a partisan nor a pundit - I unequivocally condemn and hold contemptible the intensely demeaning, personally degrading, and historically insulting caricature set forth before the world. Furthermore, I repudiate any ideology, worldview, or mindset that rationalizes such imagery, irrespective of "race", gender, political party, or any other distinction among people. This was and is WRONG.
Not only is the linear derogating of a nation's leaders (past or present) Biblically forbidden, Exodus 22:28 with Acts 23:5b, but in this instance, an entire ethnic group in the nation and the world is humiliated afresh, smeared with symbolic, piercing mockery that has persisted for centuries. Anyone who cannot see it is indeed spiritually and psycho-sociologically blind.
So unwise. So toxic. So gratuitously volatile and incendiary is this gross gesture, at a time when so many nerves are already on edge regarding the topic of “race” in this nation. This action is erosive to public trust, a trust that is already unprecedently damaged.
Unfathomable harm is being done to human relations in America and the world. It is possible to have points of intense disagreement with these political ideologues (And Biblically, I absolutely do have differences with "both sides of the aisle".) without dishonor.
One has to wonder, “What happened to statesmanship? Where are the principles of ethical leadership and human decency? Where is the acceptance of responsibility? Who is being held in accountability? Who cares that the collective conscience of a generation is being ripped asunder, ‘seared with a hot iron’?”
Tragically, incidents like this are symptoms, not the disease. They highlight the truth that this nation is morally “like sheep without a shepherd”.
Let us not waste energy attacking one another based upon trivialities such as whether one posts about this on social media or what political party it is to which someone subscribes(???) And heaven forbids that we would trade insult for insult, curse for curse. Lady Obama herself is legendary for having stated, "When they go low, we go high..."
Instead, let us channel our energies toward the solution, the fulfillment of our mission: the equipping and establishing of God-honoring, people-serving, self-sacrificing, visionary leaders. These men and women, young and old, possessing character and competence, must be raised up from among us. They must be positioned to SUCCEED righteous leaders and to REPLACE incorrigibly corrupt ones.
“He (or she) that ruleth over men (people) must be just, ruling in the fear of God.” II Samuel 23:3b
"...there is ONE kind of FLESH of men (people)" I Corinthians 15:39
"God that made the world and all things therein... hath made OF ONE BLOOD ALL NATIONS (ethnos) OF MEN (people)... That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after Him, and find Him, though He be not far from every one of us..." (from Acts 17:24-27)
ONE FLESH+ONE BLOOD = ONE RACE.
Though some virulently disagree, there is one only one race: human. Male, female, black, white, and the rest... we all bear the likeness of our Creator.
Therefore, as some have appealed, an APOLOGY would be good, and appropriate.
However, REPENTANCE would be far better.
