St. John's Lutheran Church - Hartsburg, IL

St. John's Lutheran Church - Hartsburg, IL St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church is located in Hartsburg, Illinois and is an ELCA Lutheran congregation. Our Interim minister is Pastor Thomas Kratzer.

Services are Sunday mornings at 9 a.m. We welcome all to join us in worship. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church was started in 1885. Pastor Reinhold Lange of Emden agreed to conduct services on Sunday afternoons while still serving as pastor at Emden. After four years, the congregation built a small wooden frame church on street in Hartsburg. Pastor Lange became the full-time pastor in 1915. He re

tired in 1924 after serving the congregation for almost 40 years. Our current church building on the corner of Pine and Washington Streets was completed and dedicated in 1926. For almost 140 years, St. John's has been dedicated to serving faith, community and fellowship. All are welcome to join us in worship and fellowship. We are a part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The ELCA is a community of faith that shares a passion for making positive changes in the world. Our faith is built around a strong belief in God as made known to us in Jesus Christ. Through worship, service, and education, we practice our faith, grow our relationship with God and experience God’s grace in our lives.

Today’s Children’s Message came with some very special vocalists! 🎶❤️

The children shared a message that is simple, powerful, and true:

Jesus loves me, this I know.

As you watch today’s service, take a moment to reflect on those words. In a world that can often feel uncertain, God’s love remains constant.

May the voices of our children remind us all of the faith, joy, and comfort found in knowing that Jesus loves each and every one of us.

✝️ Jesus loves me, this I know.

Have you seen this banner?
Made by our members to celebrate the 100th anniversary back in 1985. When preparing to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the dedication of the church we were unable to locate this banner to add to the display of banners and memorabilia.
If anyone knows where this banner or any others that may have been borrowed for whatever reason, please let us know so they can be available to us to display when appropriate.
This one in particular in June to celebrate the 141st anniversary of the founding of the congregation.
