St. John's Lutheran Church - Hartsburg, IL St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church is located in Hartsburg, Illinois and is an ELCA Lutheran congregation. Our Interim minister is Pastor Thomas Kratzer.

Services are Sunday mornings at 9 a.m. We welcome all to join us in worship. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church was started in 1885. Pastor Reinhold Lange of Emden agreed to conduct services on Sunday afternoons while still serving as pastor at Emden. After four years, the congregation built a small wooden frame church on street in Hartsburg. Pastor Lange became the full-time pastor in 1915. He retired in 1924 after serving the congregation for almost 40 years. Our current church building on the corner of Pine and Washington Streets was completed and dedicated in 1926. For almost 140 years, St. John's has been dedicated to serving faith, community and fellowship. All are welcome to join us in worship and fellowship. We are a part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The ELCA is a community of faith that shares a passion for making positive changes in the world. Our faith is built around a strong belief in God as made known to us in Jesus Christ. Through worship, service, and education, we practice our faith, grow our relationship with God and experience God’s grace in our lives.

St. John’s Lutheran Church is looking for helping hands for our Quilt Ministry! ❤️

🪡 Sewers are always welcome.
🪢 Not a sewer? If you can tie a knot, you’re qualified!

We meet the 2nd and last Wednesday of each month from 9–11:30 AM to create quilts that bring warmth, comfort and dignity to people in need through Lutheran World Relief.

No experience required—just bring yourself and a willingness to help. We’ll take care of the rest! 💛
