As students head back to school, please remember that school buses will once again be traveling throughout our community each morning and afternoon.

For the safety of our children, please allow extra travel time, reduce distractions, and remain alert for buses stopping to load and unload students. Remember that when a school bus displays its flashing red lights and stop arm, motorists are required to stop as directed by state law.

A few extra moments of patience can help ensure every child arrives safely to and from school. Let’s work together to make this a safe and successful school year for everyone.

Please be mindful of the speed limits in the drop off zones of all schools as well. These speed limits are put in place to protect students, parents, and employees of the school districts.

Exclusion does not always look intentional. Sometimes it is simply the result of doing what we have always done without noticing who is still standing outside. Jesus calls us to make room at the table.

Prayer: Lord, open our eyes to those we may overlook. Teach us to make room, open doors, and welcome others with Your love. Amen.

Our congregation collected backpacks and school supplies for school children. Last week Pastor Rick Kelly and church member Deanna Jackson took the donation over to Hartly Elementary School to start the school strong.
