Blessing of the Candles and Blessing of the Throats
On Candlemas, Monday February 2nd, we will have the Blessing of the Candles at daily Mass. Candle blessings are prayers said by a priest for candles, to consecrate them as sacramentals for faith, protection, and dispelling darkness, symbolizing Christ as the Light. Prayers ask God to infuse the candle's flame with His grace, driving away evil and enlightening hearts, with specific rites involving holy water and powerful blessings, protecting homes and people. If you wish, bring a candle to Mass with you that day. One candle covers all the candles in your home. There will be a table in front of the altar to place your candles before Mass begins.
In honor of the Feast of St. Blaise, we will have Blessing of Throats after daily Mass on Tuesday February 3rd and then at all Masses the weekend of February 7 & 8.
