Lake Country Unitarian Universalist Church

Lake Country Unitarian Universalist Church LCUUC is a community that encourages spiritual growth through compassion, wisdom, and understanding. Live your values aloud, not alone.

Sunday Services are at 10 a.m. We are a welcoming, open-minded and inclusive community that provides an environment for spiritual exploration and personal growth. We have built a diverse community that supports families who wish to raise their children in the principles of kindness and understanding, while also offering non-dogmatic religious exploration. We have built a community to support all m

embers throughout the joys and sorrows of life – committed to being a compassionate support system for every individual. We are dedicated to manifesting our shared values of love, justice, and compassion within the larger world. At LCUUC we believe everyone should live their values aloud, not alone and that love is always at the center. UNITARIAN UNIVERSALIST PURPOSES AND PRINCIPLES:

We send our unwavering support for Unitarian Universalists (UU) in uniform and our UU military chaplains. We recently learned the Department of Defense (DOD) has removed 180 separate religious affiliations from the US military’s list of religious affiliation codes. This eliminates the code for Unitarian Universalists, as well as Humanists, Atheists and Pagan traditions, and many others. Along with dozens of other religious traditions, UUs will be categorized broadly under “Other” in military’s religious affiliation codes.

Please note this decision does not directly impact the status of our UU military chaplains, who are authorized through a separate faith-based endorsement process with the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA). What it does mean is that Unitarian Universalist service members will not be able to select their specific religious identity in their personnel records. This may make it more difficult for our uniformed UUs to access the spiritual care that they need.

At this time, we are diligently working with our UUA counsel and partners in a variety of faith traditions to craft a strategic response that faithfully represents our values and demonstrates clear support for our UU service members and their families, as well as all those who are impacted by this DOD policy.

We will share more information when it is available. But today, we declare that no government action can erase our faith nor lessen the powerful and necessary grounding it provides for those who serve.

🌟 3 Awesome Things About Being Part of a UU Community 🌟
At Lake Country Unitarian Universalist Church, we believe that community can be a source of connection, inspiration, and growth. Here are three reasons people love being part of a UU congregation:

🦋 1. Belonging
In a world that often feels divided, UU communities welcome people of all beliefs, identities, and backgrounds. Here, you can be fully yourself while building meaningful connections with others in a spirit of acceptance and respect.

🌱 2. Spiritual Growth
Whether through worship, music, meditation, service, or reflection, UU communities provide space to explore life's big questions. We encourage spiritual growth, curiosity, and personal discovery—without requiring everyone to believe the same thing.

❤️ 3. Making a Difference
Church empowers you to make a difference.
Unitarian Universalism is a faith of action. From justice work to community care, being part of a UU church helps you live your values and help build a more loving, just world.

At Lake Country Unitarian Universalist Church, we're building a welcoming community where people can belong, grow, and make a difference together.

✨ We'd love to welcome you. Sundays at 10AM.

Many Hands Make Light Work!
Consider joining us on Saturday, 6/6 from 9am-12pm - we will be moving bark mulch into the areas planted during the May workday and applying the final top layers of bark in the outdoor social area.
We need some volunteers to help on this day. 💛
Please bring work gloves, water, sunscreen along with any other tools necessary. Thank you~ Grounds committee

Please join in THIS EVENING, Tuesday June 2 (weather permitting, of course!).
Meet at the church front door at 4 pm. We supply the bags and yellow-green vests (compliments of the County), and bottled water.

If you have never done this, give it a try! Wear good walking shoes and gloves. Takes about 1-1/2 hours and is a nice sociable walk, in addition to doing something to help our environment and publicize our church!
Everybody is welcome. Per Waukesha County rules, children participating must be at least 11 years old or in 6th grade.

We are entering our 26th year as a participant in Waukesha County's "Adopt A Highway" program, in which organizations partner with the County to clean up County highway roadsides 3 times a year. Our Lake Country UU Section is Highway E north from Highway K to EF, where the road turns west. Please consider joining this important environmental action to keep our LCUUC sponsored highway clean!

This Pride Month, we celebrate the beauty, dignity, and worth of LGBTQIA+ people.

As Unitarian Universalists, we affirm that every person is inherently worthy and deserving of love, respect, and belonging. Pride is both a celebration and a reminder of the ongoing work for justice, equity, and inclusion.

We honor those who came before us, stand with those continuing the struggle for equality, and rejoice in the vibrant gifts LGBTQIA+ people bring to our communities every day.
Whoever you are, whomsoever you love, however you identify—you are welcome here. You are valued. You belong.
Happy Pride Month! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Join us for LCUUC’s annual Flower Communion as we welcome the first days of summer!
The Flower Communion was originally created by Rev. Dr. Norbert Čapek in 1923 & is a simple and meaningful ritual in which each person brings a single bloom from home or the garden. During the service, we place our individual flowers into a communal vase, symbolizing how each of us contributes our unique beauty and gifts to this congregation. Bring a bloom and take a bloom home with you!

🌼🌸🌺Join us this Sunday, June 7 at 10 am - Bring a flower, bring your questions, and bring your spirit of community. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!

LCUUC MEMBERS: After the service, all LCUUC members are invited to stay for the Annual Congregational Meeting.

What do Unitarian Universalist kids learn? 🌈💛

✨ Each and every person is important.
✨ All people should be treated fairly and kindly.
✨ We accept one another and keep learning together.
✨ Every person is free to search for what is true and right in life.
✨ Everyone should have a voice in the decisions that affect them.
✨ We work for a peaceful, fair, and free world.
✨ We care for our Earth — the home we share with all living things.

These values guide how we live, love, learn, and build community together. Kids are free to be themselves, ask big questions and have fun. 🌎🤝

What happens when we allow ourselves to wander a little? To wonder a little more?
Join us Sunday, May 31 at 10 a.m. for “Wandering in Wonder” with guest speaker Rev. Lori Laban
Curiosity is one of the most deeply human parts of who we are — the spark that leads us toward connection, meaning, discovery, and awe. Together, we’ll explore what it means to follow our questions, embrace wonder, and see where the journey leads.

Whether you’re seeking inspiration, reflection, community, or simply a thoughtful start to your Sunday, you are warmly welcome here. Come as you are.

🌞Morning Blessing:
As we move through the bounty of Nature’s incomparable beauty,
May we learn that flowers reward patience.
How careful tending leads to stunning blooms,
How gentleness of care creates lasting beauty,
How investment in growth returns in abundance.
What began as tiny seeds, after a season of faithful tending,
Now offers fragrance and color to the world.
May our lives bloom with such grace.
Amen.
Blessed be.
🌙Evening Blessing:
In this season of flowering abundance,
We give thanks for the beauty that surrounds us.
Gardens bursting with stunning palettes and fragrance,
Lives blooming with purpose and joy,
Communities that flower justice and love.
What we nurture with care becomes a gift to the world,
Blessing both giver and receiver with beauty.
Blessed be.
🫶Embodied Practice:
Gratitude meditation focused on the beauty and abundance that result from nurturing care.
🌱Humanistic Meaning Making:
Understand beauty as both outcome and motivation for creating conditions that support human flourishing.
🙏🏼Thank you to Meadville Lombard Theological School for this wonderfully thoughtful meditation. We are grateful & they make a difference!
