Almighty and merciful God, we give you thanks for all the men and women who have served in the armed forces of this nation. Bless all who have given of themselves in times of peace and in times of war. On this day, we remember especially those who have given their lives to protect this country and to secure the freedom we enjoy. Give all leaders a hunger for peace. Bring an end to hostilities and resentment. Let your perfect peace fill the earth. We pray in the name of Jesus, the Prince of Peace. Amen.

On Sunday we will celebrate the festival of Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit was poured out on the Church in a miracle of wind, fire, and language. Wear red if you'd like to join in the festivity!

Readings are Acts 2:1-21, Psalm 104:24-35, 1 Corinthians 12:3-13, and John 20:19-23.

God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, as you sent upon the disciples the promised gift of the Holy Spirit, look upon your Church and open our hearts to the power of the Spirit. Kindle in us the fire of your love, and strengthen our lives for service in your kingdom; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
