Trinity Homelessness Project

Trinity Homelessness Project Our purpose is to raise awareness of homelessness in Hartford to the Trinity community and to support local organizations providing services to the homeless.

Our organization, which is part of the Office of Community Service and Civic Engagement at Trinity College, aims to help those experiencing homelessness in Hartford! Our events include service days at South Park Inn (a local emergency shelter), the Faces of Homelessness panel with Hands on Hartford, and necessities drives for various organizations. Please email [email protected] for more information about upcoming events/meetings.

Thanks to Officer Barrett Support Hartford's Homeless with Officer Jim Barrett for meeting with Trinity Homelessness Project and Trinity College Habitat for Humanity on Thursday to discuss how he has continued to help the Hartford community during the COVID-19 pandemic. While we can't do our normal activities with him like the Footwear with Care Winter Boot Drive and the Stuff a Cruiser event at Fleet Feet West Hartford, Hartford PD Homeless Outreach Officer Jim Barrett met with us on Zoom, and it is great to see all that he has been able to accomplish in helping those experiencing homelessness!

We are so excited to announce this drive to the Trinity community.

Many folks experiencing homelessness do not have access to proper menstrual products, leaving them at risk of heightened discomfort, shame, and serious infection. Period poverty is an on-going, overlooked, and global public health crisis. During our drive, we hope to post articles and resources for education and awareness of this issue.

Participation in drives like this and consideration of menstrual hygiene when regularly donating to shelters or offering to help people who are homeless—are of the utmost importance.

Donations of any amount are valuable! All donations are going to two great local organizations, My Sisters’ Place and Mercy Housing. And we are so proud to say the following and amazing on-campus organizations are partnering with us on this initiative: .c.b.w.o 🤍
