We Are An Open & Affirming Church...
And You Are Welcome Here❗
🌈💗🤍💙🤎🖤♿

Faith Church is the oldest Black Church in the City of Hartford. Faith Congregational Church is part of the United Church of Christ denomination and has been a part of the African-American religious community of Hartford for 203 y

ears. Faith Congregational Church seeks to be a faithful community of persons under the Lordship of Jesus Christ and witness to His power in the midst of human life. God is doing new things at Faith! We are experiencing new leadership, a renewal of the Spirit and the creation of a worship experience that celebrates the presence and goodness of God. We are working to make Faith Church a place where people can discover and develop their faith, ask questions and find answers in the Word of God. At Faith, we welcome and affirm the praises of God’s people in our celebration of worship. Here at Faith you have an opportunity to find your place in worship, as we seek to be an “alternative worship experience” in the City of Hartford, celebrating the best of the Black church traditions along with contemporary styles of worship. We are a growing and dynamic family of believers who are excited about what God is doing in our midst. If you are in search of a church home, someplace where you can grow in faith, serve God, fellowship with believers, study the Word of God, and discover God’s will for your life, we hope you will consider making Faith Congregational Church your home. For more information about our church and membership, please visit www.faithmatterstoday.org or call the church office.

From our Women's Day - May 17, 2026...

"Are we tired of just surviving while democracy feels like it's slipping away?" ✊

Today, I want to remind you: Black women are among the most educated, yet face displacement and disregard. We are expected to save institutions that often don't protect us, to be miracles without space to be human. But despite it all, we rise.

Joy Reid warns — when we silence truth about race and inequality, democracy weakens. So, our job now? Tell the truth out loud. 📢

We honor our brilliance, our stories, our legacies. And together, we keep hope alive. Because our voices are what keep our communities strong.

What's one truth you’re ready to speak out loud today?

Remember — your voice matters. Your story matters. And your hope keeps this movement moving. 💪

What a joyous and beautiful day of celebration!

So grateful for everyone who came out to celebrate our very own Sister Andrea Barton Reeves on her graduation from Yale Divinity School! Andrea has earned her Master of Arts in Religion, and we couldn’t be prouder of this incredible milestone in her journey.

And as if that weren’t enough to celebrate, she was also awarded The Reverend Frederick J. Streets Prize—established in 2021 and given to a graduating student who has made a distinguished contribution to the advancement of social justice. A well-deserved honor for a life so deeply rooted in faith, justice, and service.

Andrea, we celebrate you, we honor you, and we love you! What a gift you are to all of us.💖💖

Special thanks to Yale alum photographer Jean Santopatre, M.Div. ’15, along with Sister Lara White and Sister Regina Waters for capturing these precious moments so beautifully.

PENTECOST SUNDAY 🔥
The name 'Pentecost. comes from the Greek word 'pentekoste,' which means 'fiftieth.'

Pentecost is celebrated on the seventh Sunday after Easter which is also fifty days after Easter. It commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles and other disciples following the Crucifixion, Resurrection, and Ascension of Jesus Christ and it marks the beginning of the Christian church's mission to the world.
