Hello All . Want to send a big THANK YOU out to Steve Kagarice for mowing the cemetery for us for clean up day Thursday and Friday. Also a big THANK YOU to Matthew, Sandy, Bob Kagarice and Toby Truex for doing all the w**d eating, trimming of brush from the fence and spraying around the stones and the drive. This is the first time we have done the spraying around the stones but hopefully it helps with the poison ivy and the w**d eating. It was a little cool but all went well and Thanks to these good dependable people the cemetery looks REALLY good. We had hotdogs, chips, cookies and bargs root beer when finished. Thanks to you all again. Much appreciated. I took a few pictures but can't figure out how to put them on here but it does look really good. The girl scouts will help place flags on the 22 of May and it will be mowed by Matthew and Sandy sometime during that week so as to look really good for Memorial Day. PITTSCHAPEL SPRING NEWSLETTER 2026

Hello and HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all. Hopefully these first few months have been good to you all. I didn't send a fall newsletter out because there was nothing to report besides the regular mowing/maintenance. Thanks to Matthew and Sandy it was kept up well. I didn't get but one stone cleaned. Thankfully we didn't have any problems with trees down. Our sign in sign did rot off in September. I wasn't where I could dig holes for it but did get the boards and concrete we needed to fix it and got the boards painted. In December a good neighbor down the road from the cemetery came up with his post hole digger on his tractor and dug the holes for me and on Jan the 8th Toby, Steve and I got the sign back standing in concrete. I ask Steve to bring a couple loads of gravel after the holes were dug and he did so with the sign in place we re-leveled the bench and spread the gravel around the two signs and bench. I put a picture on the Pitts chapel facebook sight.
The donations were way down last year which is a sign of some of our family members passing and the economy. We started last year off with $10,326.61, had $3170 donated=$13,496.61. We spent $4000 for ten mowing's/w**d eating, $50 for gravel, $250 on w**d spray, stamps, envelopes, printing ink, paper, paint, boards and concrete for sign and have $300 cash on hand leaving $8896.61 in bank as of Jan 5, 2026. On January 8th I received a $400 check and that has us starting the season with $9296.61. Which is still almost a thousand dollars more than we had when I took over the cemetery ten years ago March 17th. THANKS TO ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT.

We're going to do Spring Clean Up a little earlier this year. The last two years we've needed to mow by the second or third week of April so we're going to have Spring Clean Up Saturday April 18th and see what we can get done-mow, w**d eat, cut sprouts, spray poison Ivy and w**ds, and anything else that we can weather permitting. Depending on how many show up to help. What we don't get done that day we then have a few more weeks to get it cleaned up before Memorial Weekend.

Hello all. I haven't posted anything because this year was pretty much just mowing. In September the sign in box rotted off. A good neighbor dug the holes for me with his post hold digger in December. Very much appreciated. Toby, Steve and I went over on the 8th of January and got it put back in the ground. We just added new legs too the sides , put concrete in the hole with gravel and dirt. I had ask Steve to bring a couple scoops of gravel over and so when we got the sign in the ground we spread the gravel around the signs and bench. Think everything is back in order. Sorry for no fall newsletter. There will be one in March or early April. We were down on donations this year but still ended out the year with the same amount pretty much that we started the season with after paying for mowing/w**d eating. WE have gotten 3 donations in the last couple weeks which helps a lot. Figured I needed to let everyone know that the sign was back up and sorry it took me so long. Things just haven't worked out in my favor as well as in the past but we will keep it up to the best of my abilities. Will talk to ya in the spring. Happy New Year and hears to good health and safety . LET THERE BE PEACE IN THE VALLEY. Teresa

I want to thank the few (5) that came to help yesterday for cleanup. It is all w**d eated and old flowers picked up. Will put the flags out the week before Memorial Day. We had three that did the w**d eating , one pick up flowers and cut down old yucca flowers and one that trimmed all the overgrowth from the road fence line. Started at 9 and finished at 3:30. Made for a long day . We enjoyed hotdogs, chips, and cookies afterwards. Thanks again. It wouldn't have gotten done without the help. Next year we may not do a clean up day since for the most part everything is kept in good order all through the year. But we will see how the seasons go.
LET THERE BE PEACE IN THE VALLEY. Thanks again. Teresa

Good Morning. Hope this finds everyone well. There will be a newsletter coming soon. I think I will get them in the mail today. I checked the cemetery yesterday and it is getting close to needing mowed. There is one limb down but not a huge one so that's good. REMEMBER clean up day is the first Saturday in May. May 3rd at 9:30 ish weather permitting.
When I checked the sign in box the green folder that I keep the current newsletters in and envelopes with my name on them for just in case someone wants to send a donation , Was GONE. I don't know why anyone would want to take it but I will replace it soon. I did however go ahead and leave a few newsletters in the box.
Thanks to everyone that helps out in anyway with the cemetery. It is a family affair. Hope to see you soon. Sorry I don't post much but there is really not much to report on as long as all is going well. LET THERE BE PEACE IN THE VALLEY. Teresa

*Updated with pictures*
Good evening to all. We had another full day of working at the cemetery and putting up stones. All total today we repaired/uprighted 16 stones. Between today , the day I put one up myself and last week when this amazing team worked all day putting up 6 , we have uprighted 22 stones. I do not want the monument company's job. THATS for sure. Of course I am sure they have the right equipment but we did good with shovels and Steve and his skidsteer. Hope everyone is happy with what we got done. I also cleaned several stones last week . Intended to do some today but by the time we got done standing them I had No energy left. Will do that another time. LET THERE BE PEACE IN THE VALLEY. Teresa Caretaker.

Hello to All. Friday we spent a big part of the day at the cemetery trying to fix several stones. Thank you to Steve, Toby and Clint for helping me. We got 5 BIG stones put back up in standing position. Hopefully to stay up for many years to come. As old as some of them are you never know and with the ground shifting like it does and think it will be a constant job. My hopes is to get at least another 5 repaired this fall. Will see. I have also been cleaning on stones, so will keep you updated on how that is going. Thanks Karla for putting the pictures up for me. I will have to be buying a few more supplies like concrete caulk etc. I bought the D2 and wet and forget spray cleaners which is what is suggested for cleaning of the stones last week. It is not cheap for sure but a lot cheaper than new stones. I spent 118.78 cents just on the cleaners and brush. My intents are to work at the cemetery at least two days next week on cleaning and I think there are two stones I can set up myself so will probably try to do that. The others said they could help me again soon they thought so will at that time try to put a few more of the bigger stones up. THANKS AGAIN for everyone's help. LET THERE BE PEACE IN THE VALLEY. Good Morning All. Wanted to THANK everyone that came out to Pitts Chapel Cemetery yesterday to help with clean up day. Even with the rain we got it looking good. We enjoyed hotdogs etc. and visit after. I took pictures after everyone left but have to figure out how to put them on here. Maybe this evening. There were 13 total that came to help. It was very much appreciated. I also want to thank everyone that has donated so far this year . We now have enough to pay for seven mowing/w**d eating without touching what was in account when I started 8 years ago. There is a tree that is in need of coming down however, for safety sake, so we will have to get into that money to take it down. But that is ok. THANKS AGAIN caretaker-Teresa. LET THERE BE PEACE IN THE VALLEY. Have a good week.

Hope this works. This is the newsletter that will be in the mail by the end of this week. thanks to all Teresa
PITTS CHAPEL SPRING NEWSLETTER 2024

Hello All: Well Easter has come and gone and the weather is still as crazy as the whole last year has been. The grass is greening up but with the cool days and nights thrown in every few days it is not growing real quick. I do think we will probably mow one time before clean up day so that it doesn't get out of hand, probably the week of 15th through 20th . WHICH PLEASE put on your calendar to come join us on May 4th for clean-up day. We'll have hot dogs, chips, cookies and water when we are done for the day.
It seems we faired winter and winds pretty well with few limbs down. Another stone or two has fallen due to shifting of ground and / or tree roots.
I am in hopes to get several stones set back up this year and several cleaned. With last years BP issues I didn't get done as much as I would have liked . Praying this year is much better.
Its sad to say that we have lost nine of our people who made annual donations. So I look for our banking account to show the loss. That is common now days for older cemeteries. Want to send out a BIG THANK YOU to those of you who do donate regularly. It helps A-LOT. With the cost of living now days its sometimes hard to keep monthly bills paid let alone donate to things we don't deal with daily.
We are starting the year with $300 having been donated already making $9196.61 in our checking account. We will be paying $400 again this year for mowing and w**d eating. With the limit on mowing being 10 times.
I know a lot of our families are between 70 and 100 years old and unable to come visit the cemetery but if you could talk your younger family members into becoming interested in their ancestors, it could make a difference. For donations PLEASE make to Pitts Chapel Cemetery. My contact info is Home phone:816-862-6697, cell:660-238-6304, email [email protected], mail address 32405 E 283, Garden City, Mo 64747. I do not have caller ID so PLEASE leave a message.
Board Members are: Steve Kagarice, Ginger Holt, Karla Summerford, and myself Caretaker Teresa Claunch.
