Valley Interfaith Action

Valley Interfaith Action VIA is a strictly non-partisan, multi-issue, volunteer leader-led, broad-based organization. We need to both "do good" and "do justice."

Many local congregations desire to respond to God's call for justice in our community. All of our congregations are working to ease suffering through many ministries of mercy and love. These acts of compassion are vitally important AND our faith traditions are also calling us to deeper actions, relationships, and systemic change. We hope to transform systems and address the root causes of injustic

- Listen to our neighbors and members to hear their struggles and the systemic causes of those struggles

- Build relationships of trust and respect among our Covenant Congregations, partners, and civic decision-makers in both business and government

- Working through these relationships and through a group process of identifying local concerns, we will annually identify one local issue, research ways to address it, and advance proposals for action using community organizing methods (attending meetings, public presence, developing creative solutions)

- Follow up with the public decision-making bodies involved to seek agreement, commitment, and accountability

- Meet at least annually as an assembly of Covenant Congregations. This assembly will make the big decisions and elect an Executive Committee that will manage Faith in Action on an ongoing basis, supervising a staff organizer.
