Patchwork Pantry was selected as one of the nonprofits featured in the art exhibition, "Pop for a Cause" by artist Derek Jackson. He has created original artwork to represent the various local nonprofits that will be displayed at this event!

Come see "Pop for a Cause" and the original art piece created for the pantry!

Today from 5:00-7:00pm at Asbury United Methodist Church in downtown Harrisonburg.

Patchwork Pantry is looking for one regular volunteer who can support chicken packing the third Wednesdays of the month. The time commitment is about 11:30am-1pm.

Patchwork Pantry receives a generous donation of chicken from Farmer Focus each month. The chicken comes in bulk and has to be repackaged into smaller bags for distribution. There is a small group of volunteers from The Arc of Harrisonburg/Rockingham who help pack the chicken. There is a direct support professional that comes with The Arc volunteers to work with them.

We need one volunteer to be present while they pack to help get out the supplies, oversee the packing, help put the chicken into the freezer/fridge, and assist with cleanup. This volunteer would also communicate with Patchwork Pantry leadership if there are questions or needed supplies. This volunteer must be comfortable with raw chicken, able to lift 25 pounds to help move boxes, and interested in working with adults with disabilities. Do you or someone you know speak Russian? Patchwork Pantry serves many Russian speaking neighbors and we would like to be able to communicate with them better! We are looking for volunteers who could help translate when needed on Wednesday evenings and commit to at least once a month. If you’re interested, please connect with us.

We are so appreciative of donations from local businesses! We'd like to spotlight and thank Farmer Focus for their partnership with the pantry and providing us with chicken to distribute every month.

Being able to provide households with a desirable protein multiple times a month is something we like to prioritize, and these donations help us do that!
The Arc of Harrisonburg also plays an important role as we've had wonderful volunteers come to the pantry to package this chicken so that it's ready to freeze and hand out to our households on a Wednesday evening.

So many members of our community support Patchwork Pantry's mission. We extend a big thank-you to these members!
