2026 SERMON TOPIC SURVEY OVERVIEW
Last week I announced that we (the worship ministry team and I will be asking you as
member of our Moutain Valley Church family to participate in a Sermon Topic Interest
Survey! Immediately a few questions may come to mind: What is it ? Why are we doing
this?
Permit me to answer the SECOND question first. Last Sunday I shared with you the
two questions that one of my most beloved pastor/teacher/mentor asked his
congregation every Sunday Morning .
1.) How much do you LOVE God? His answer…As much as you Love his
word!
2.) How much do you know about God? His answer … As much as you know
about his word!So because I know you as Emmaus walkers, talkers, lovers I
know you to want to express your Love for God, by knowing more and more
about his word.
By participating in this survey, you’ll have an opportunity to let me know as your
pastor/teacher what your SERMON TOPIC INTERESTS ARE and what some of your
Biblical or theological questions may be.
After your surveys are tallied topics from the most popular ones you have chosen will be
selected for individual or Sermon series this fall (2026) and spring of 2027.
The answer to the first question is that this survey is a simple tool to help identify what
more You want to know about God and His word to express your love for him in more
meaningful ways!!!.
A BRIEF WORD ABOUT THE SURVEY ITSELF.
 The Survey is drawn from an article that looked at 75 of the most popular sermon
topics involving 100 churches from various denominations and sizes along with
data from 15 visual creation companies who consulted with churches to assist
them in “branding” (developing marketing strategies) for individual and
denominational houses of worship.
The topics identified in this research were categorized into these eight sections:
 Bible-based: Book of Job, Gospels, Revelation
 Spiritual: Topics like the Armor of God, the Beatitudes, or the Fruit of the
Spirit
 Felt-Needs: Messages on Life Changes, Behaviors, or Habits
 Theology: Salvation, the Cross, the Trinity, and more
 Christian Practices: Relationships, Tithing, or Prayer Life
 Character-based: Sermons on Biblical characters like Joseph, David, or
Peter
 Seasonal/Holiday-based: Christmas, Easter, Mother’s Day, etc.
