Aletheia Church Harrisonburg

Aletheia Church Harrisonburg We desire to see our city and surrounding communities impacted by someone who knows and loves Jesus We want to exist as a family of healthy humans restored.

We are merely a group of redeemed people privileged to be his instruments. The mission of God on the earth is that of reconciling all things back to himself by advancing His kingdom–his generous and gracious rule in the earth through the hearts of his people. In this, we intend to first and foremost be diligent disciples. If we are disciples of Jesus, the natural outpouring of that is to make othe

r disciples (Matthew 28:18-20). We foster an environment through which the Spirit of God is able to cultivate disciples of Jesus that will be used in His mission, to advance His kingdom, and to restore the earth. Our overarching vision is to see every corner of our city, and its surrounding communities, affected by someone who knows Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Ultimately, we want to reach the ends of the earth with the gospel. That begins with permeating the message of Christ in our city and flooding the streets with His eternal hope. Our deepest desire is that Aletheia Church would serve, in whatever way God decrees, in the redemption of people from all nations (Revelation 7:9-10), going to the ends of earth in search of someone who will receive the same washing of regeneration, from the Spirit, that we did (Titus 3:5). Thus, our efforts revolve around the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:36-40) and the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20).

Sunday Recap🙌

The men started the morning with Dudes & Donuts, and our middle and high school students gathered for Youth Sunday.

We also kicked off our summer series on the parables of Jesus with the Parable of the Sower (Matthew 13:1-9).

We were challenged to examine our own hearts and ask: Are we truly listening to God’s Word? May God continue to soften our hearts, deepen our roots, and produce fruit for His glory as we abide in Christ.

What a Sunday!🙌🏼

We celebrated our high school graduates, honored Pastor Chris and his family as they prepare for their summer sabbatical, and reflected on God’s compassion through Compassion Sunday.

Compassion Sunday reminded us that God is moving across the globe, and He’s inviting us to be part of it. Hearing from Norah, a Compassion alum, gave us a glimpse of the lasting eternal impact a sponsorship can have on a child’s life.

Thank you to everyone who responded to Compassion Sunday by sponsoring a child. If you’d like to sponsor a child, we’ll have sponsorship packets available in the lobby again this Sunday.

Happy Memorial Day, church family. We were so thankful to worship with you yesterday as we finished out our sermon series on Galatians.

“Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is the new creation.” - Galatians 6:15.

We concluded this series by remembering that what counts is the new creation work that the Holy Spirit does within our lives. In this freedom, we are free!

May the Lord bless you, church, as you are out and about in the community this week. See you next Sunday!

What a joy to gather together yesterday!

Pastor Chris opened the final chapter of Galatians as we studied Galatians 6:1–10 together. We worshiped, encouraged one another, and left reminded that the gospel changes how we live, love, and care for one another as we bear each other’s burdens and do not grow weary in doing good.

It was a joy to celebrate all of the mothers in our church family yesterday as we gathered for worship: the mothers who are grieving, the mothers who are doing it on their own, the mothers who are sacrificing, those who are waiting and wishing to hold children of their own, those who have lost their mothers and the spiritual mothers who invest in our community every day. We see you, we love you, and we celebrate you.

We also hosted a bake sale to raise money for Aletheia missions. Thank you to all who baked, who donated and who made this event happen on Mother’s Day!

In worship, Pastor Chris walked us through Galatians 5:16-25 by sharing with us the new reality that we walk in by the Spirit. We’re encouraged in our daily battle with the flesh versus the Spirit that all we have to do is fall into step with what the Spirit is doing. We walk with Him as He leads us forward in love, joy, peace, patience, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness and self-control.

Thank you for worshipping with us, church! See you next week!

Our church picnic was such a sweet time together—full of food, laughter, fellowship, and time with our church family.

Sunday’s message in Galatians 5:7–15 pointed us back to walking in freedom and loving one another well. So thankful for a day spent together!

Church picnic is happening this Sunday May 3, don’t miss it! ☀️

After service, we’ll have hot dogs and an inflatable slide for the kids on the side lawn.

Yesterday we visited Galatians 5:2-6 where Pastor Chris pointed out there is absolutely nothing that we can rely on to atone for our sin aside from the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Anything else we rely on, will result in nothing.

However, we can rest that our faith expressing itself in love will always matter (v.6). We loved celebrating child dedications with our beloved church family and worshipping you this past Sunday.

We look forward to another week of worship this coming weekend followed by the church picnic & college student study day. Don’t miss it!
