Help Pastor Dennis & Mrs. Marie Selvidge Through Marie’s Lung Transplant Journey
For decades, Pastor Dennis and Mrs. Marie Selvidge have dedicated their lives to serving others. They currently serve as the Senior Pastors of Harrison First Assembly, where they have faithfully ministered for more than 15 years. Before coming to Harrison First Assembly, they spent several years serving as youth pastors at Batavia Assembly.
Marie also dedicated more than 40 years to her career at Boone County Special Services before her lung disease forced her to retire.
Now, the woman who has spent so much of her life caring for others needs our help.
Marie is battling idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a progressive and devastating lung disease. She is now in the final stages and is in need of a double lung transplant.
Marie has an upcoming appointment at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, where she will complete the final testing required for her lung transplant. Because of her critical condition, the transplant team will begin an urgent and aggressive search for donor lungs. Next, will begin a long journey of surgery, recovery, rehabilitation, and extensive medical care.
Following her transplant, Marie and Dennis will need to remain in St. Louis for up to four months. Unfortunately, their insurance will not cover their housing or many of the personal expenses associated with this extended stay. The total cost is expected to exceed $10,000.
After spending so many years serving and giving to others, Dennis and Marie now need our support.
Every donation, no matter the amount, will help provide housing, food, transportation, and other necessary expenses while they are away from home. If you cannot give financially, please pray for Marie’s transplant, her healing and recovery, Dennis as he walks beside her, and the medical team caring for her.
Let’s come together and surround the Selvidges with the same love and support they have shown so many others throughout the years.
Thank you for your prayers, generosity, and willingness to help carry this burden. Every gift and every prayer means more than you know.
“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” — Galatians 6:2
