Tomorrow America observes Memorial Day to honor the courageous men and women who laid down their lives for the cause of freedom. We are so very thankful for their selfless hearts and the ultimate price they, and their families, paid. Memorial Day centers around the thoughts of ultimate sacrifice, remembrance and gratitude. As we remember these brave men and women who gave their lives for our earthly freedom we must always remember the ultimate sacrifice that Jesus Christ made on the cross for our ETERNAL freedom. In the gospel of John, chapter 15, verse 13 John captures the words of Jesus: “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” Today we will remember Christ’s ultimate love and sacrifice as we take communion (which we do every Lord’s Day) and focus on the eternal freedom He provides. We also pray for peace in the world and for God’s care for those who are currently fighting for our earthly freedom. AMEN! We invite everyone to join our Ridgeway church family this wonderful Lord's Day morning to worship our Heavenly Father, to study from His word and to focus on the great love of Jesus. In the 4th chapter of his letter to the Colossians, verses 5 and 6, Paul writes about the “outer” life of those in Christ. Here he writes: “5 Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. 6 Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.” The Christian life isn’t only lived in the prayer closet. There is practical, lived-out Christianity, which exists toward those who are outside – the non-believers. How we speak has a lot to do with this, so we must let our speech always be with grace. How non-believers see us every day is vitally important to the spreading of the Gospel. How we talk to people and how we treat others (graciously) is a reflection of God’s grace towards us. We should give flavor to our speech (seasoned with salt) but we must base all our answers to others on Biblical truth. We must emulate how Jesus talked and acted to each person while on earth – pleasantly, wisely, and appropriately. Each interaction could end with another soul added to God’s church. AMEN! Ridgeway's May Drive-thru Food Pantry is this coming Saturday, 5/16/2026, from 9:00 AM until noon (or until all the food has been given out). Please share with those who might need a little help with groceries.

Happy Mother’s Day to all you moms! In Paul’s 2nd letter to Timothy (a beloved son) he starts the epistle in chapter 1 by calling out Timothy’s faith and heritage. In verse 5 he wrote: “5 when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also.” Paul is filled with joy when he remembers the genuine faith that is in Timothy. Not just faith - but genuine faith. It made Paul extremely happy to remember faithful servants, like Timothy, who loved and served Jesus and His church. Paul goes on to point out that Timothy’s faith was due, in no small measure, to his godly upbringing and influence of his grandmother and mother. It is vitally important for us to also understand and keep in remembrance how important the role of a mother is toward the faith of her children. AMEN!
