Jesus said to them, "Did you never read in the Scriptures:
The stone that the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone;
by the Lord has this been done,
and it is wonderful in our eyes?
Therefore, I say to you,
the kingdom of God will be taken away from you
and given to a people that will produce its fruit." Matthew 21:42-43

October is Respect Life Month. This weekend we will have a collection to support the USCCB Respect Life Initiative. This collection provides funds to locations throughout the Archdiocese of Cincinnati who aid in support of mothers and fathers in their difficulty over sharing the gift of anew life, including our local Reach Out Pregnancy Center. The Catholic Church’s defense of all human life highlights the many vulnerable situations in regard to the dignity of all human persons. Thank you for your support of the Archdiocese’s collection and efforts extended by so many and prayers and actions to support human life amid all its vulnerabilities. Baskets will be in the gathering space for this collection.

Jesus said to the chief priests and elders of the people:
"What is your opinion?
A man had two sons.
He came to the first and said,
'Son, go out and work in the vineyard today.'
He said in reply, 'I will not,'
but afterwards changed his mind and went.
The man came to the other son and gave the same order.
He said in reply, 'Yes, sir, 'but did not go.
Which of the two did his father's will?"
They answered, "The first."
Jesus said to them, "Amen, I say to you,
tax collectors and prostitutes
are entering the kingdom of God before you.
When John came to you in the way of righteousness,
you did not believe him;
but tax collectors and prostitutes did.
Yet even when you saw that,
you did not later change your minds and believe him." MT 21:28-32

This Sunday is Priesthood Sunday. Be sure to thank Father Ruwe and other priests in your life for listening to the call. There will be a card box in the Gathering Space for cards for Father Ruwe.

Prayer for Priests (from USCCB)
Gracious and loving God, we thank you for the gift of our priests. Through them, we experience your presence in the sacraments.
Help our priests to be strong in their vocation.
Set their souls on fire with love for your people.
Grant them the wisdom, understanding, and strength they need to follow in the footsteps of Jesus.
Inspire them with the vision of your Kingdom.
Give them the words they need to spread the Gospel.
Allow them to experience joy in their ministry.
Help them to become instruments of your divine grace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns as our Eternal Priest.
Amen.
