Just a reminder that Meet the Teacher night is tonight from 5:30pm - 7:00pm and the 1st Day of School is this Wednesday. We missed you!

Shhh...don't tell the kids(or maybe even the teachers😆) but school starts in a few weeks! If you can't find the supply list we sent home at the end of the year, don't worry it is on our website under Forms.

Event: Assumption
Feast Day: August 15th
Today we celebrate the bodily assumption of the Virgin Mary into heaven. It is the perfect conclusion to what was begun with the Immaculate Conception. It has been said, “The glorification of Mary is therefore the crowning of her journey of faith and singular grace; it is the feast of her predestination to eternal happiness in glory.” In his letter to the Philippians, St. Paul assured them “...that the one who began a good work in you will continue to complete it until the day of Christ Jesus” (Phil. 1:6).

The Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is not a Holy Day of Obligation. Mass for the Solemnity will be held at 7:30 am.

One of our OCIA candidates, Matthew Chuck participated in the Rite of Welcome at the 4pm Mass this weekend. The Rite of Welcoming is for inquirers who have been previously baptized and are ready to publicly declare their intention to continue their journey toward full communion with the Catholic Church or towards reception of the Sacraments of the Eucharist and Confirmation . At this Rite, they are asked if they are ready to listen to the apostles’ instruction, gather with the worshipping community in prayer, and join that community in the love and service of others. They are signed with the Cross to show that they belong to Christ. Please pray for Matthew and all of our OCIA candidates as they continue their journeys of faith.

Steward Event: Dedication of St. Mary Major
Feast Day: August 5th
Today we celebrate not a saint but the dedication of a church that was re-built after the Council of Ephesus to honor Mary, the Mother of God. The dedication of St. Mary Major in Rome was the culmination of a long theological debate about whether Mary was simply the mother of the man Jesus or should rightly be called the Mother of God. The Council declared that she was, indeed, “theotokos,” the Mother of God.
