Is Your Spiritual Phone On? Have You Called God Today?

Every soldier needs a good communication device like a radio or a satellite phone. The same is true in spiritual warfare.
Paul ended his discussion on the armor God gives the Christian by saying, “Pray always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints” (Ephesians 6:18).
Praying always . . . all prayer . . . all perseverance . . . for all the saints. In other words, our radios should always be on. The batteries should always be charged. Our prayer lives should be strong, consistent, and sincere. Many battles can be won only on our knees.
* Perhaps the battle raging in your life is for a wayward child or a lost loved one.
* Perhaps the battle is to regain unity and peace in your church.
* Perhaps the battle is to overcome a bad habit or an addiction.
* Perhaps the battle is to break open a resistant mission field.
* The Bible says that the prayers of a righteous person are “powerful and effective” (James 5:16 NIV).
God intends us to be “more than conquerors” (Romans 8:37), but we can’t successfully engage in spiritual warfare without spiritual weapons. We can’t be strong in ourselves; we have to be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. And we have to be dressed for battle.
Prayer is the energy that enables the warrior to wear the armor and wield the sword. No matter how talented we might be, if we try to fight spiritual battles in the energy of our own human strength, we will never be victorious.

I asked for strength that I might achieve;
He made me weak that I might obey.
I asked for health that I might do great things;
He gave me grace that I might do better things.
I asked for riches that I might be happy;
He gave me poverty that I might be wise.
I asked for power that I might have the praise of men;
He gave me weakness that I might feel a need of God.
I asked for all things that I might enjoy life;
He gave me life that I might enjoy all things.
I received nothing I had asked for;
He gave me all that I had hoped for.

In Psalm 1:4 the wicked (ungodly) are compared to chaff.

As Chaff they have no roots; they are blown with the wind; they are useless to the plans of God; they are neither beautiful nor fruitful.

John the Baptist used a similar word picture in Matt. 3:10–12 when he described God as a harvester, visiting the threshing floor and separating the grain from the chaff. “He will burn up the chaff!”

What a tragedy for people to spend their entire lives on earth as chaff and, as far as eternal things are concerned, amount to nothing.

The true character of the wicked, the ungodly, will be revealed at the judgment; they will be seen as chaff, worthless lost souls.

In that day the chaff will be revealed and removed, even from among God's people. Even so, come Lord Jesus!

21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’
23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

Psalm 33:5–13 (NKJV):
The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.
