Contemporary service starts back up in October!! (God willing, of course!) We are SO excited after being closed since March due to Covid. We thought it would be a good time to remind you that the first Sunday of every month is "Not awkward Sunday" for those that haven't visited yet... or even for those that have but still don't know what in the world we're doing. I mean... sometimes we don't either, but we'll fill you in! Here's how it works:
Send us a fb message, or text 870-715-2867, or morse code... whatever... to let us know you're coming to the 11am service. We will have someone meet you outside at 10:40am. They'll give you the run down on what we do, where your kids can go (or they can stay with you!), how the service goes, what door to go in... all the stuff you think of when trying out a new church. We'll do it together! Grab a group of friends and try us out together on the 1st Sunday of every month. We promise you'll have a great time, and it won't be awkward at all. :)

Try us out without feeling singled out! Every 1st Sunday of the month we have "Not Awkward Sunday". Just let me know you're coming and I'll meet everyone outside at 10:40am. I'll give you the run down on what we do, where your kids can go (or they can stay with you!), how the service goes, what door to go in... all the stuff you think of when trying out a new church. We'll do it together! Grab a group of friends and try us out together on the 1st Sunday of every month. I promise you'll have a great time! We make it fun and not awkward at all.

Let us start by answering some of your questions about our contemporary service on Sundays at 11am. At First Christian Church, we welcome ALL people. Not some... ALL.

Q. Do you have music?
A. We use a live band and tracks. PLEASE get rowdy with us! We want you to stand up, sing loud, dance in the aisles - all of it. We’re not here to entertain you... we want you to EXPERIENCE Jesus!!!

Q. Is there a youth group?
A. YES! A GREAT one led by Kahla Jackson. We have things for youth on Tuesdays, twice on Wednesdays, family events throughout the week, and on Sunday mornings.

Q. What if I have tattoos?
A. Sweet. A lot of us do, too! Please feel free to talk to others with tattoos. They have some pretty cool ones.

Q. Will I be judged if I’m a single mom or single dad?
A. Nope. Love wins. Period.

Q. What I be judged if I don’t have much money?
A. Nope. Jesus didn’t call for only the rich, so we figure we shouldn’t either.

Q. What if I’ve never been to church?
A. This is a great place to start! Message us here and we’ll make it not awkward at all.

Q. Will anyone ask me questions about my life?
A. Nope! If you want to share, though, we’ll gladly listen without judgement!

Q. What if I’ve committed a crime in my lifetime?
A. God forgives you... shouldn’t your church?

Q. What if I’m divorced?
A. We’re not trying to marry you. You’re safe here. :)

Q. Is it all older people?
A. Sometimes. Never. Always. Rarely. Yes... all of that depending on the day.

Q. Will people start calling me if I don’t show up regularly?
A. Nope. We’re thrilled when you show up... once a year or every week.

Q. What if my skin color is green or orange?
A. Cool. Jesus was known to be different, too.

Q. What if I didn’t have time to fix my kids hair and they look like worn out rag dolls?
A. We have kids, too. Ours may or may not come in with milk mustaches. We won’t judge if you won’t!

Q. Do you have coffee and cookies?
A. Well of course! The Bible says “Hebrews” so we do too. (ba da dum ching!)

Q. What if I don’t know where to come in or what to do, and I don’t have anyone to go to church with me?
A. There’s a message button on this page. Please use it to let us know you would like a “Not Awkward Sunday”. I’m Leslie Wright, and I’m the worship leader here on Sundays. I’ll be more than happy to tell you where to meet me outside, I’ll walk in with you, and show you around so you don’t feel like the newbie.

Q. Do you preach from the Bible?
A. We sure do... but we promise not use it as a weapon against you. We’re human, too. We’re not here to point fingers at anyone. We’re here to help you understand what the Bible says. You are free to make your own decisions and walk your own path with God! Love wins... every time!
