Psalm 130 Sermon at Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church September 6, 2026

A song of ascents.

1 Out of the depths I cry to you, Lord;
2 Lord, hear my voice.
Let your ears be attentive
to my cry for mercy.
3 If you, Lord, kept a record of sins,
Lord, who could stand?
4 But with you there is forgiveness,
so that we can, with reverence, serve you.
5 I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits,
and in his word I put my hope.
6 I wait for the Lord
more than watchmen wait for the morning,
more than watchmen wait for the morning.
7 Israel, put your hope in the Lord,
for with the Lord is unfailing love
and with him is full redemption.
8 He himself will redeem Israel
from all their sins.

Sunday, September 6, 2026 ~ On this late summer day, we turn our eyes to Jesus and bow our hearts before him. Welcome to worship!

Pastor’s Message: “Power Through Prayer”
Scripture Lesson: Psalm 130:1-8
Purpose Statement: How and why do we cry out to the Lord in prayer? How often when you pray do you wait to let God speak to you? Prayer consists not only of asking for things or even only of thanking God for things. Sometimes we go to God simply to refresh our souls. In His presence we find a new vision and greater hope. Prayer has been called the voice of faith. The most earnest prayer springs from the depths of our souls. The command from Scripture is this: “In everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”

Thank you for the support of your weekly offering by bringing it to church, mailing it, or through electronic giving. A collection box is in the back of the sanctuary for your tithes and offerings.

Bible Study and/or Sunday School
Following and learning about Christ are lifelong pursuits. If we are to love God with our mind (as well as with our heart, soul and strength), then we must keep learning even into old age. Plus, when we are well informed about God’s Word and our faith, we can share it with non-Christians and express the reason for our hope (see 1 Peter 3:15). Join us for our weekly Bible Study and/or Sunday school. We have a class for you! Call the church office for more information.

Sunday, August 30, 2026 ~ Welcome! We greet you in the name of Christ. Let’s strive to show love to our Creator and to one another as we gather as God’s family.

Jim Neumyer’s Message: “Back to Basics”
Scripture Lesson: Matthew 7:24-29
Purpose Statement: Do we know what our foundation is? What and where we build our spatial lives matter. If we do not build on a firm and solid foundation, our house will crumble and fall. We must always remind ourselves of the basic tenants of our faith.

A Special Thank You to Jim Neumyer for leading today’s service and sharing the Word of God with us while Pastor is away. We appreciate your willingness to share God’s Word!

The flowers at the pulpit this morning are presented to the Glory of God!
