Stillness In Times Of Trouble.
Lately the corona virus has surged across the globe at an alarming rate and effected all of us on some level or another. Yet the question that comes to mind is; can we as Christians who are in co-union with Jesus, The Anointed One, be in a place of rest or do we succumb to the ever-increasing fear that this pandemic has spread to every area that has access to the media?
In Isaiah 40:31 we read “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength” KJV translation.
So the way that I see that verse as it pertains to right now is: are we able to simply be still and wait on the Lord or do we need to say something or do something? See if we jump into prayer and start rattling off our mouths spouting off all our religious rhetorical prayer are we actually saying anything or doing anything? Do we actually have God’s attention or in other words, does He have our attention? I think the majority of the modern day church go into prayer with a self-seeking agenda trying to get all their needs and wants met without having the slightest idea or concern of what might be on God’s heart.
When did prayer become about us and what we can get out of it?
In my own life the times that I’ve waited upon the Lord in stillness and silence usually are the most empowering times of prayer that I’ve ever had. I say this bc when I wait upon Him and for His Spirit to move upon me and stir my heart and spirit to speak what’s upon His heart that’s when the natural and supernatural collide and atmospheres and situations begin to shift and are altered. This is bc when we simply wait upon Him and His Spirit to move us we are now partnering with the plans and destinies that are already in Heaven prescribed for a specific situation or region. Another way to put it is when we allow ourselves to wait and hear what He wants to do and we speak it out angels are put on assignment and the plans of Heaven are executed.
God will always look for a believer to partner with Him so that He can put in motion His plans upon the Earth. It is written in Amos 3:7 “Surely the Sovereign Lord does nothing without revealing His plan to His servants, the prophets.” Now I’m not saying that everyone is an office prophet, but I am saying that all may prophecy according to Joel 2 and Acts 2. God still speaks to us as believers and we are able to hear Him bc we are His. Though the Bible is one way of hearing God we also need to acknowledge that God also speaks to our 5 spiritual senses (sight, hearing, touch/feeling/sensing, taste, & smell) as well. We must not neglect to work these senses out like a muscle so that we can hear the Lord in any way that He chooses to speak to us.
I bring that up so that we can understand how God may choose to speak to us while we are in a place of silence & solitude, otherwise known as stillness. If we can get attuned in our hearing to His voice then we can strengthen ourselves by hearing what He is speaking to us.
We as a nation are being hit by an unseen enemy and we need to be able to hear God’s voice and be strengthened in our inner man right now. We need to come into a place of peace and increased faith that God surely has this situation under control. Is it bad, yes, but we serve a God that has already defeated death and the grave and is the Name that is above every other name, so go to Him for the answer instead of your government. God is in control and Jesus is still King.
So I decree over your lives and regions what is written in Psalms 24:7-10 “Lift up your heads, O you gates; and be lifted up, you everlasting doors, that the King of glory may enter. Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O you gates; lift up, you everlasting doors, that the King of glory may enter. Who is He—this King of glory? The Lord of Hosts, He is the King of glory.”
Be blessed and well. Shalom
