We are at the end of our series on the Ten Commandments. The commandment may be the most difficult for us. It's about wanting what doesn't belong to us. The core of this is a message that tries to tell us that we aren't enough. Yet God reminds us that we are. The sermon is based on Exodus 20:17.

The Dental Clinic Expansion continues at Christ Lutheran Church. This week the framing of the walls went up. We keep moving closer and closer to the clinic being completed. If you want to know more about the dental clinic, you can visit our website at https://www.christharrisburg.org. On the website, you can also make a donation that will get us even closer to being 100% fully funded for the project. And if you want to see it (or the rest of the church and the clinics) in person for yourself, click on "schedule a tour" in the upper right hand corner of the website. Thanks and please share.

This is the final week of our exploration of the Ten Commandments. And for this week, we get just one verse - the final commandment. Like the others, it seems simple on the surface. But it is far more complex than any of the others. And it has a troubling part that we cannot just gloss over. Let’s take a stroll.

Based on Exodus 20:17 One verse.  That’s the whole reading for this Sunday.  It’s the final segment of our four week series on the Ten Commandments.   The verse reads: “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, male or female slave, ox, donk...

Christ Lutheran is looking to hire a new part-time secretary: A college student, recently retired, someone looking to get back into the workforce, or looking for an additional part-time job. Some duties would include answering questions about our clinics, making supplies for worship, answering the phone and email. If you or someone you know is interested, please contact us at [email protected].

n this third week on the series of the Ten Commandments, we turn our attention to how we are to live in relationship with our neighbor. The second set of the Commandments also dive deeper by addressing the injustice of enslavement in order to establish a better way to be community. The sermon is based on Exodus 20:12-16.

The Narrative Lectionary moves us from the first set of the Commandments to the second set. And the theme continues. It’s certainly about love of neighbor. And if we forget the context of coming out of slavery in Egypt, we might miss something else that the commandments are about. Let’s take a stroll.

Based on Exodus 20:12-16 We now move from the first group of commandments, which are about our relationship with God, to the second set of commandments, which are about our relationship with our neighbor.  The order matters.  Our foundation starts with our relationship with God.  It is only wit...

As we move into the actual commandments listed in Exodus 20, it starts with a focus on our relationship with God. And each one builds upon the one before it. And while its easy to point fingers at how others are failing at these, the whole point is for us to look in the mirror to see what gods we still follow, how we just God for our own purposes, and more. Thankfully, that mirror is not the end of the story, because when we look in the mirror, we also see the image of God. The sermon is based on Exodus 20:3-11.
