Sundays sermon is still on my mind…praying we find a moment of peace today!

It’s been a beautiful weekend at The Journey, and we continued it with a meaningful Sunday morning gathered for worship together. The presence of God was felt as we worshiped, listened, and leaned into what He may be saying to us.

We continued week two of our sermon series, Bold Prayer, as Pastor Kris shared from 1 Samuel 3:7–10, reminding us that prayer is not only speaking- it’s also creating enough space to hear what God may want to say to us and be willing to do what He asks of us. Sometimes, more is accomplished in prayer by listening than by talking.

As you pray this week, pause and make space to listen.

Like Samuel, may our prayer be: “Speak, your servant is listening.”

We are overwhelmed and humbled by the incredible back-to-school block party that took place today.

Here’s just a little glimpse of what happened today:
* 684+ people joined us throughout the day
* 432 backpacks and school supplies went home with students
* 482+ people enjoyed free food
* Bags and bags of clothing and household goods were given away
* 80+ faces were painted and 250+ balloon creations were made
* 408 Popsicles were enjoyed
* Cups and cups of lemonade and cold brew were poured
* 3 amazing community partners joined us
* Families enjoyed a full day of activities, connection, and community fun
* And 63+ volunteers gave their time and energy to serve

And those numbers only tell part of the story...

Behind every backpack was a child getting ready for a new school year. Behind every bag of clothing was a family being cared for. Behind every Popsicle, painted face, conversation, and game was an opportunity to remind our neighbors that they are seen, valued, and loved.

There was JOY in this space today.

Thank you for showing up. Thank you for loving our neighbors. And thank you for being the hands and feet of Jesus today.

We are deeply grateful for you all. And deeply grateful to be part of what we experienced today. 💚

Our Back to School Block Party is happening tomorrow, and we’re ready for a great day with our neighbors!

Come grab a backpack and school supplies, enjoy lunch, shop our free store, have some fun in our kids activities, and hang out with the community. There will be plenty happening throughout the day—and everything is FREE.

What a Sunday we had this past weekend! The presence of God was felt through powerful worship and a beautiful spirit of belonging. And we kicked off our first week of our new sermon series, Bold Prayer.

Pastor Kris opened the series by drawing from the story of Peter and John in Acts 3–4 and challenging us to move beyond safe and predictable prayers and become people who pray boldly. Bold prayer isn’t simply asking God to change our circumstances—it’s being willing to let God change us in the midst of them.

We were also honored to welcome a group of pastors and laity from the UMC Susquehanna Conference who joined us for worship as part of a pilgrimage seeking healing and justice throughout the Harrisburg area. We’re grateful to have shared the morning together in worship—and, also, there may or may not have been a mention of baby goats somewhere in there. 🐐

We’re looking forward to continuing Bold Prayer together in the weeks ahead, and we hope to see many of you at our Back-to-School Block Party this weekend!

Our annual Back to School Block Party is just ONE WEEK away! 🎉

This is our biggest community event of the year, and we’re getting ready for a day full of fun, connection, and plenty of FREE resources for our neighbors—including backpacks and school supplies, student haircuts, a free lunch for everyone, and our free store with clothing and household goods, which will be open all day!

Bold Prayer begins this Sunday! 🙏

What would happen if we stopped playing it safe with our prayers?

Prayer is one of the most powerful ways we experience a deep and transformative relationship with God. But sometimes our prayers can become small, predictable, or focused only on what feels possible. What if we prayed with greater courage, honesty, and expectation?

This Sunday, Pastor Kris will kick off our new sermon series, Bold Prayer, as we explore what it means to trust God with the deepest desires of our hearts, pray boldly for what seems impossible, and believe that God is still capable of doing more than we could ask or imagine.

We’re looking forward to a powerful Sunday together as we begin this new series and continue celebrating all that God is doing in our community.
