Good Shepherd Paxtang As a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, we are a mission-oriented church that supports both local and worldwide ministries.

Good Shepherd Paxtang is a mission-oriented church. We support local ministries/organizations such as the Ecumenical Food Pantry, Christian Churches United’s Health Ministries, and Family Promise (an organization assisting families who are experiencing homelessness). We also support local schools through donation of grocery store gift cards to families in need. Lutheran World Relief, a worldwide o

rganization, is supported through our annual donation of school and health kits. In addition, Good Shepherd's women’s workshop sewed and distributed over 1,000 masks locally during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Faith communities can play a vital role in su***de prevention. They are often places where people turn for hope, connection, guidance, and support during some of life's most difficult moments. This FREE training, specifically for faith leaders, clergy, and ministers, can create real change in how we approach those impacted by su***de.

We are honored to welcome David A. Jobes, Ph.D., ABPP, internationally recognized su***de prevention researcher, author, and Professor of Psychology at The Catholic University of America, as our keynote speaker.

Faith leaders, clergy, ministers, and spiritual care providers from all faith traditions are invited to join us as we begin an important conversation about su***de and the unique role faith communities can play in prevention. Together, we will explore how to better recognize when someone may be struggling, respond with compassion, connect people to appropriate support, and create communities where people feel heard, valued, and less alone.

We have to be willing to talk about su***de. By starting the conversation, strengthening our knowledge, and working together, faith communities can become an even greater source of hope, connection, healing, and life-saving support.

Start the conversation. Strengthen the connection. Build hope. Save lives.
