Our sympathy and prayers are extended to the family of Joyce Giles, who went to be with the Lord last week. Joyce was the mother of Richard Giles. Richard and his wife, Jean, are members of Faith Baptist Church. A Celebration of Life will be at First Baptist Church in Harrah on Thursday, 5 February, at 1 pm. Floral tributes may be sent to Hibbs Funeral Home in Choctaw.

Minnie Joyce Giles, 83, of Harrah, Oklahoma, was born on October 22, 1942, and went to be with her Lord on January 30, 2026.

Minnie was preceded in death by her father, Melvin Farris; her mother, Ruth Farris; her brother, Glen Farris; and her sister, Melinda Gober.

She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was defined by faith, kindness, and devotion to her family. She leaves behind her loving husband of 63 years, Richard Giles, with whom she shared a marriage filled with love, laughter, and adventure.

She is survived by her three children: daughter Diana Maddox and husband Harold of Harrah; daughter Teresa Blevins and husband Greg of Harrah; and son Richard Giles Jr. and wife Jean of Harrah. She was a proud and devoted “Nanny” to her eight grandchildren: Christy Brewer, Tyler Nicholson, Bradley Mann, Jessia Tippit, Jeremy Nicholson, Colby Nicholson, Kaytlin Young, and Whitney Johnson. She was further blessed with 23 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy.

Minnie was a Christian woman who lived her faith daily. She prayed faithfully for her husband, children, and grandchildren, and her life was a reflection of Christ’s love. She was known for her gentle spirit, nurturing heart, and unwavering kindness. Minnie never had a harsh word for anyone and was always ready with guidance, encouragement, and support, ending every conversation with the reminder to pray about everything.

She retired in 2002 from the Oklahoma State Department of Health, Fiscal Services Division. In retirement, she cherished traveling with her husband and especially loved fishing and spending time camping with family and friends. Some of her most treasured memories were made during her early years of marriage in Colorado Springs, while Richard was stationed at Fort Carson, where they enjoyed much fun that included water fights, exploring the mountains, and simply delighting in one another as a young couple.

Minnie lived passionately for her family, loved deeply, and served others quietly and faithfully. While her family will miss her dearly, they rejoice knowing she is now in Heaven, reunited with loved ones and hearing the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
