The Governing Board of Wesley Methodist Church is pleased to announce that Bishop Levingston has appointed Rev. Samuel Blanco to serve as our new pastor. His appointment will begin on November 1st and his first day preaching is expected to be on November 15th. Let's all prepare to warmly welcome him to his new home!

Greetings! My name is Samuel Blanco III and I have been a pastor full-time for seven years. I have served two churches in that time: Christ Methodist in Stockdale and George West Methodist in George West. (Over ten years ago, I also served part-time at First Methodist Raymondville.) I am grateful to be an alumni of Asbury University, Biola University, and Asbury Theological Seminary; I also recently began my Doctorate of Ministry at Baylor University.

I was born in Rio Grande City, Texas and my dad entered the ministry when I was five years old. This took us many places, including Elsa and Lyford! My dad, Samuel Jr., and mom, Alma, are living in Poteet right now; he is retired but still serving as a pastor there. I have three younger sisters: Elisa (living in McAllen), Ishshah (a student at Truett Seminary/Baylor), and Claudia (wife of pastor Wesley in Beeville). I have one nephew, Wesley Jr., whom we call "Wesito"! I have a dog named Cade, a seven-year-old German Shepherd--overall well-behaved!

The Lord Jesus has done many things in my life, and has orchestrated that my path cross with yours for this coming season. I really do believe that the gospel has power and is the best news ever! I am passionate about discipleship, church renewal, and our Methodist message. I am looking forward to meeting all of you, hearing your stories, and working with you in the next chapter of your church.

We serve the living God and must expect wonderful things from His hand!

Pastor Sam
