1 Kings 3:3 "Solomon loved the Lord, walking in the statutes of David his father..."

1 Kings 11:4, 7, 8 "For when Solomon was old his wives turned away his heart after other gods, and his heart was not wholly true to the Lord his God, as was the heart of David his father... 7 Then Solomon built a high place for Chemosh the abomination of Moab, and for Molech the abomination of the Ammonites, on the mountain east of Jerusalem. 8 And so he did for all his foreign wives, who made offerings and sacrificed to their gods."

One of the saddest details in Solomon’s story is found in the contrast between these passages in 1 Kings. Early in his life, Solomon “loved the Lord.” Later in life, “his wives turned away his heart after other gods.”

Solomon was not forced away from God overnight. His heart was gradually shaped by the people he allowed closest to him. The relationships around him influenced his thinking, his priorities, and eventually his worship.

The people we surround ourselves with matter. Influence is powerful. Over time, those closest to us will either strengthen our devotion to God or weaken it. This is why Scripture repeatedly warns us to be careful about companionship and influence.

Even a wise man like Solomon was not immune. Wisdom alone is not enough if we continually allow ungodly influences into our hearts. We must intentionally surround ourselves with people who encourage faithfulness, reverence, and obedience to the Lord.

Please keep Ruben and Gaby in your prayers.

Just a couple of weeks ago, we were celebrating with them the joy and excitement of expecting their baby. Last week, while about four months into their pregnancy, their baby boy passed away.

Ruben and Gaby find comfort in knowing that their baby boy—though never born, deeply loved, and made in the image of God—is now with the Lord. Even so, they are grieving the painful loss of their child.

We know death is a part of life, but that truth never makes the pain easier. Please keep this family in your prayers during this difficult time.

We ask every to pray for our brother in Christ, Pablo Alcala. Back in February, he obeyed the gospel, and we all rejoiced.

Today, he is battling Stage 4 cancer, and we suffer with him. The future is uncertain, but what we do know is that the Lord is with him!

Pablo is fighting the good fight and intends to finish strong, regardless of when that happens.

Pray for him and his family. They need it!

Our gospel meeting concluded yesterday, and we are so thankful for the time we spent together. We were encouraged and sharpened by God's Word.

We thank brother Juan Pablo Flores (J.P.) for his willingness to come and teach us more about sharing our faith. We were extremely blessed to have him among us this weekend. We were reminded of our reaponsibility to share the Good News of Salvation!

We also want to thank everyone who made an effort to come worship God with us. We had a great turnout.

God bless everyone!
