Choose Today

Fear and worry can get in our way. We begin to think about what could happen and anxiety sets in. We stay up at night, with our minds thinking of a hundred different scenarios of what could have, or should have happened.

Most of the time the worry was wasted. The sleepless night just made us tired the next day. We struggled about things that never came to fruition.

2 Timothy 1:7
For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self discipline.

John 14:1
Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.

Satan would like nothing better than for us to spend our days worrying and struggling with insecurities and fear. It will take our mind off the Savior when we get caught up in the worry game.

God gives us power and strength.
We have to focus in God not the problems. Whatever we spend our time doing can overflow in our personalities and our daily walk.

Negativity and worry can breed negativity and worry. Have you ever found yourself around “Debbie Downer.” She will tell us that worry is correct and wants us to wallow in it.

Life is way too short to allow worry and fear to consume us.

God tells us to come to him , all who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28)

He knows that we will worry and get anxious, however he offers us opportunities to give our worry to him.

Matthew 6:27
Can any one of you add a single hour to his life by worrying?

We all know the answer is no. Allow God to take the worry and flood you mind with his love and his mercies. Focus on the answers….Jesus♥️

Dear God,
Consume our minds with you, not worry and fear. Help us realize no matter what is going on in life, you offer hope, love, peace, and joy. Fill our hearts with each one.
Amen

Looks Are Deceiving

I spoke with a patient. Tears started to stream down her cheeks. She has dealt with a chronic illness for years.

If you saw her in passing, you might think she lives a normal life. For the most part she is able to live a fairly normal life, however there are limits to some activities because of her disease.

It is easy for us to assume that people around us are healthy and have no struggles. If we dig a little deeper, we may learn they have struggles, heartache, pain, worry, regret, and numerous other concerns we have no idea about.

Just because someone looks great on the outside, doesn’t always mean they are doing great in the inside.

Hebrews 10:24
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.

The person sitting right beside you may look put together, however they may be struggling to keep it all together and feel like they are at a breaking point.

What if we were the person that encouraged and spoke words of encouragement that impacted their life today. Simple acts of kindness can bring great joy to someone who is struggling.

Ephesians 4:29
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

Our words can change a persons life. We can choose to encourage or discourage with our words.
We can be the one who makes a difference in the lives of those around us.

Make a choice to be kinder and more compassionate toward others, despite their differences. Remember, we all are dealing with something.

Dear God,
Help each of us to speak words that build up each other. Help us realize many people are struggling, even though they don’t show this on the outside. Help us to each be a difference maker to those around us.
Amen

Love and encourage one another.

A couple of years ago, an illness caused me to rest more than I wanted to. In that moment, God spoke to my heart about encouraging others. Never did I dream that it would be writing daily devotions, however, when God is in it, anything is possible. What began with a few friends, has lead into so much more. God speaks to us daily, if we just slow down to listen. May you all be encouraged by the writings God has placed on my heart.

My prayer is that we will encourage others through this site.

I have selected to use this site, hopefully to make it easier access for those around us to hear God’s Word.

Please join me in sharing the daily post.

With much prayer and love,
Laurie♥️
