Obituary for Helen Catherine Winn
Helen Catherine “Cathy” Winn
March 22, 1948 – October 21, 2026
Helen Catherine “Cathy” Winn, 78, of Killeen, Texas, graduated to Heaven on October 21, 2026, and is now with her Savior, Jesus. Surrounded by her loving family in her final hours, Cathy spoke with joy about spending eternity worshiping Jesus. Her words were a beautiful testimony to the unwavering faith that guided her life.
Cathy was born on March 22, 1948, in Vera Cruz, Mexico, and was the beloved daughter of Leo and Trudy Bowles. A devoted mother, mother-in-love, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, she filled her life with faith, family, and a heartfelt love and concern for others.
Above all, Cathy was a woman of God and a mighty prayer warrior. She was the person you called when you needed prayer, and she never missed an opportunity to share the love of Jesus. She was actively involved in church, loved attending Bible studies, and served for a time on the TBN prayer team. Praying for others was more than something she did—it was an expression of who she was. A homemaker with a love for bright colors and flowers, Cathy enjoyed decorating for the seasons and making her home a welcoming place. She remembered birthdays and anniversaries and faithfully sent cards, making sure the people she loved knew they were remembered.
Cathy adored her son, Shaun, her daughter-in-love, Jennifer, and her granddaughter, Taylor. Time with family was precious to her, whether celebrating her birthday, Mother’s Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, or simply finding another reason to be together. She treasured her sisters and their children and loved spending time with her best friend, Sherry, and Savannah, who held a special place in her heart. She loved to travel, loved animals, made friends everywhere she went, and never met a stranger. Directions could sometimes turn an outing into an adventure, and technology was rarely her friend, but connecting with people came naturally to Cathy. Her warmth, thoughtfulness, and love for others left a lasting impression on those who knew her.
Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Trudy Bowles, and her husband, John Winn.
She is survived by her beloved son, Shaun Winn; daughter-in-love, Jennifer Winn; granddaughter, Taylor Winn; sister, Shirley Stephenson, and her husband, John Stephenson; sister, Lyn Bowles; her beloved nieces and nephews; and many cherished friends.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who called, sent messages, visited, and prayed. The stories of Cathy’s kindness and the love surrounding her family have brought great comfort. Cathy will be deeply missed and forever loved. Her family grieves her absence while rejoicing that she is exactly where she longed to be—in the presence of Jesus, worshiping her Savior for eternity.
