Good morning, faithful friends! 🫂

Have you ever stopped to wonder how much of you is walking around in the hearts of other people?

Maybe it was a few words of encouragement you offered years ago that someone still remembers.

Maybe it was the hug you gave when someone desperately needed one.

Maybe it was the confidence you helped build in a child, the kindness you showed a stranger, the meal you delivered, the prayer you whispered for a friend, or simply the time you sat beside someone so they didn’t have to be alone.

We may have forgotten those moments completely.

But they may not have.

And perhaps that’s one of the beautiful ways God works through us.

Jesus didn’t tell us that loving our neighbor had to be something enormous or extraordinary. So much of His ministry was personal—seeing people, listening to them, touching them, encouraging them, sitting at their tables and reminding them that they mattered.

And when we follow His example, we leave little pieces of His love everywhere we go.

“Let all that you do be done in love.”
— 1 Corinthians 16:14 ❤️

So today, don’t underestimate the little things.

The smile.
The compliment.
The phone call.
The helping hand.
The prayer.
The simple words, “I’m glad you’re here.”

You may never know how long that moment lives in someone else’s heart.

And isn’t that a beautiful thought?

Go leave a little piece of God’s love somewhere today. ❤️

Good morning, Faithful Friends! ☀️🙏

This morning, I woke up with a little bit of writer’s block.

I believe in God. I trust in Him. I know the direction I’m going. But sometimes, coming up with something meaningful to share here each morning isn’t quite so easy.

So there I was, digging through the filing cabinet of my brain, searching for a topic that seemed “worthy.”

And then it occurred to me…

Maybe the writer’s block WAS the message.

Because don’t we all have days when we wake up a little unsure?

Unsure of what to do next.
Unsure how something is going to work out.
Unsure why something is happening.
Unsure what God is trying to tell us.

Sometimes confusion, frustration, worry, challenges—and simply the noise of life—can make it difficult to hear the message God is giving us.

Maybe we don’t always need to have the answer.

Maybe sometimes the blank space is an invitation to stop searching so hard, bow our heads, and simply say:

“Lord, I don’t know what today holds…but You do. Take the wheel. Lead me through it.”

So today, I’m taking my writer’s block as a little gift. 🙏

A reminder that I don’t have to have all the words.
I don’t have to have all the answers.
I don’t have to have everything figured out.

I just have to stay connected to the One who does.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” — Proverbs 3:5

Whatever today holds, Faithful Friends, let go and let God take the wheel. ✝️

🍂 As we near a new season, our Faithful Friends…

The leaves are beginning to change. The morning air feels a little more crisp, and the grass is heavy with dew. Evening seems to arrive a little sooner, while the night sky grows clear and brilliant with shining stars. ✨

There is something about the changing of seasons that reminds us that life has seasons, too.

Perhaps you’ve found yourself entering a new one.

Perhaps lately you’ve felt that you need something more—a little more connection, a little more encouragement, a place to belong… or simply a quiet place to hear God’s Word and be reminded that you don’t have to walk through life alone.

Here at Harmony United Methodist Church, we would love to invite you to join us. ⛪️🫂

We are a small country church, and while technically we may be called a congregation, we think of ourselves much more as a family. And there is always room in a family for one more.

Come hear the Lord’s Word.
Come find ways to do His work.
Come sit beside us, pray with us, laugh with us, and simply come as you are.

☕ Tomorrow morning, coffee and conversation begin at 8:30 AM. Come early, grab a cup, and spend a little time visiting with Pastor Daniel and friends.

⛪ Worship begins at 9:00 AM.

And afterward, we gather downstairs for fellowship over coffee, tea, punch, and—as you can usually count on at Harmony—a sweet treat or two. 😊

It’s a simple thing, really. A little laughter to brighten your soul. A little conversation to encourage you for the week ahead. A little kindness to give you strength.

Maybe, as one season begins to change into another, this could be the beginning of a new season for you, too. 🍁

🗓️Today is Harmony’s Helping Hands Food Pantry Day!

Our doors will be open today from 3:30–5:30 PM for residents of Harford and Harford Mills who could use a little help stretching their grocery budgets.

Here at Harmony we believe in loving thy neighbor… seeing each other through challenges, providing what we can to help… and that is how Harmony Helping Hands Food Pantry came to be… with this message in mind. That is exactly what community is about: neighbors helping neighbors and caring for one another. ❤️

🇺🇸 🕯️September 11, 2001 — September 11, 2026 🫂🇺🇸

Good morning, Faithful Friends.

Twenty-five years ago today, our nation experienced a darkness that changed us forever.

We remember the nearly 3,000 lives taken on September 11, 2001. We remember the innocent men, women, and children who never made it home….. those on the planes, in the buildings, on the ground. We remember the firefighters, police officers, EMTs, first responders, and ordinary people who ran toward danger when every instinct said to run away. The illnesses that came from the destruction of the fallen building, causing so many to later suffer from numerous diseases and illnesses. The aftermath will never cease to exist…. It continues on forever.

But our remembrance does not end with that day.

We also remember the brave men and women of our United States military who answered the call in the days, months, and years that followed. Some gave their lives. Others returned home carrying wounds—both seen and unseen. Families endured deployments, empty chairs, long separations, and unimaginable loss, as well.

Today, we honor all who sacrificed because of September 11th. ❤️🤍💙

Twenty-five years have passed. A generation has grown up knowing 9/11 only through photographs, videos, classrooms, and the stories we tell them.

And that makes our promise even more important:

We shall never forget.

May we remember not only the darkness of that terrible day, but also the light that followed—the courage, compassion, sacrifice, prayer, unity, and love shown by people across our nation.

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
— John 1:5

Lord, comfort those who still grieve.
Bless our first responders.
Watch over our military members and veterans.
Bring healing to those who still carry the scars of that day and the years that followed.
And help us never forget how precious life, freedom, peace, and one another truly are.

Good morning, Faithful Friends! 🕯️

It may be one of Hollywood’s favorite stories…

Light against darkness. Good against evil. 🤍🖤

We’ve watched it in Star Wars, Harry Potter, Disney movies, Indiana Jones and countless others. The characters may change, the worlds may look different, and the battles may involve lightsabers, magic wands or heroic adventures—but somehow, we keep returning to the same story.

Of course, Hollywood didn’t invent it. 😉

Long before movie screens and special effects, Scripture was telling us about Light and darkness.

The Bible tells us:

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” — John 1:5

For us as Christians, that Light has a name: Jesus Christ. ❤️

Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” — John 8:12

And yet, if we’re truthful with ourselves, darkness can sometimes be tempting.

Anger can feel easier than forgiveness.
Judgment can come quicker than understanding.
Resentment can be easier to hold than grace.
Fear can speak louder than faith.
And sometimes doing what is right simply feels harder than doing what is easy.

Our battles probably won’t involve Darth Vader or some other villain. 😊 They happen quietly, every single day, within our own hearts and through the choices we make.

And perhaps that is where we are called to remember:

We don’t fight darkness by becoming darker.
We fight darkness by bringing LIGHT. 🕯️

We bring kindness where there is cruelty.
Grace where there is judgment.
Forgiveness where there is hurt.
Hope where there is despair.
Love where there is hate.
And faith where there is fear.

Because darkness may sometimes surround us. It may even tempt us.

But darkness has never been stronger than the Light.

So today, Faithful Friends, when you find yourself standing between the two…

Choose the Light.
Walk in the Light.
And most importantly—BE the light. ✨

🍎 Good morning, Faithful Friends!

Across the Northeast, school doors are opening once again. Backpacks are packed, pencils are sharpened, buses are rolling…and teachers, faculty and staff are beginning another year of teaching our children. 🍏🧑🏼‍🏫👩🏻‍🏫👨🏽‍🏫❤️

It got me thinking about the word TEACHER.

Of all the names given to Jesus—Lord, Savior, Messiah, Prince of Peace—there was another name He heard often:

Teacher.

Of course, His classroom looked a little different. There were no desks, smartboards, report cards or standardized tests. His classroom might have been a hillside, a fishing boat, a roadside, or someone’s home.

And His curriculum?

Faith.
Love.
Forgiveness.
Compassion.
Kindness.
Service.
Respect for one another.

Perhaps you could say Jesus taught us the ABCs of living. ❤️

Our school teachers have a curriculum of their own—reading, writing, mathematics, science, history, art, music and so much more. But tucked between all those lessons are some of the very same things Jesus taught.

Be kind.
Help one another.
Listen.
Keep trying.
Respect each other.
Learn from your mistakes.
Use the gifts you’ve been given.
And never stop growing.

A teacher’s influence reaches far beyond the pages of a textbook. Sometimes they’re the person who notices the child having a difficult day. Sometimes they’re the encouraging voice saying, “Try one more time.” Sometimes they’re teaching lessons their students won’t fully understand the importance of until many years later. Sometimes they’re the ones giving a graduate a plant as a housewarming gift in support….🌱

Jesus knew something about that, too. 🙏

So as another school year begins, we offer a special prayer of gratitude for our teachers, aides, administrators, counselors, nurses, bus drivers, cafeteria workers, custodians, coaches, office staff, substitutes and every person who helps make our schools a place for children to learn and grow.

May God give you patience on the challenging days, joy in the little victories, wisdom when you need it, and the reminder that the work you do matters far beyond what you may ever get to see.

And to our students…

May you enter your classrooms ready not only to learn something new, but to be kind, be curious, help someone who needs it, and remember that every person beside you is learning something too.
