Father Robert W. Spriggs

Fr. Spriggs was born July 15, 1938 and died peacefully Sunday, August 16, 2026 surrounded by his family and friends.

Father Spriggs was ordained for the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois and served actively at a number of jobs and in a number of parishes in the Diocese for over 60 years.

Funeral mass for Father Spriggs will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 22, 2026 at Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church, Bluffton, SC.

In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to do so may make donations for Masses for Father Spriggs.(https://web4ucorp.com/massintentions/masses-public.php?org=gregorybluffton)

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Welcome Fr O'Steen!!

Welcome Father O’Steen!

Father began his assignment with St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church and School, St. Anthony Mission Church, and John Paul II Catholic School today!

Here is a little background about Father O’Steen:

Father O’Steen is a native of Greenville and has four brothers, including his twin brother Jordan. He attended local public schools before enrolling at University of South Carolina, where he earned a degree in management science in 2017.

During his sophomore year in college, Father O’Steen experienced a renewed commitment to the Catholic faith after moving near the St. Thomas More Catholic Student Center. He described adopting daily prayer, especially the rosary, attending daily Mass, and receiving spiritual direction as pivotal steps in his discernment. He entered seminary formation in 2018 at St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary, where he studied philosophy and theology.

After ordination, Father’s first assignment, where he served for two years, was at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and School in Columbia, South Carolina. He also served as Chaplain at Cardinal Newman High School.

We pray for Father O’Steen and welcome him warmly to our SGG family!

O Holy St. Anthony gentlest of Saints, your love for God and charity for His creatures, made you worthy, when on earth, to possess miraculous powers. Encouraged by this thought, I implore you to obtain for me (request).

O gentle and loving St. Anthony, whose heart was ever full of human sympathy, whisper my petition into the ears of the sweet Infant Jesus, who loved to be folded in your arms. The gratitude of my heart will ever be yours. Amen
