SHUMY is a collection of awesome kiddos who have become a community. A body. A fellowship. Jesus followers. Disciples of Christ. It is shepherded (they sometimes resemble sheep 🐑😂) by volunteer adults who give their time and energy and resources to love these kids and model what it means to be a church. They serve generously, sacrifice, encourage and have become adults who can speak truth into pre teen and teenagers so effectively. I’m forever grateful for the calling God has placed on your life for youth ministry. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

We changed things up a little this Fall and started having senior high and junior high SHUMY in our home each week It has been transformational. Closer relationships, more intimate Bible studies, and sharing meals together weekly around a table has changed us. I didn’t get a ton of pictures from the senior high group Tuesday but I got more from junior high last night. Love our kiddos!

There was so much this weekend….Joy. Faithfulness. Beginnings. Completion. Worship. Testify. Deeper. Glory. Generations. Play. Rest. Church. All these words have layered stories of the many ways that God showed Himself to us. The adult leaders who gave up their weekend to love on our kids are truly saints. Special thanks to those that make up our church family that have eyes to see the eternal impact these weekends have in our kids lives!!! Now for a nap! 💤

South Harborcreek hosted the Erie Meadville District Youth Halloween tonight. It was such a beautiful day…. So much food…..probably the last hot dogs over the fire for the year. Special time of worship silly fun games! Huge thanks to our SHUMY adults for all their help to host this awesome evening!

WHAT IS SHUMY UP TO???? We attended an awesome Big Daddy Weave concert last night at First Assembly in Erie with others from our church family. Such truth was spoken and through music poured out over our kids. We also have been meeting at the Tiegs (Sue and Eddie) home each week (Tuesday night Sr High-Thursday night Jr High) for dinner, Bible Study and lots of laughs! Special thanks to the parents and adult leaders for showing up and allowing these special times to disciple and speak Jesus truth into our kids lives! One half of MY youth leader SUPER COUPLE from back in the day (Cindy Dougan) was at the concert last night too. It was not lost on me…

Great SHUMY kick off night tonight. We had 20 kids and 18 adults 🙌 . Special thanks to Brian and Diane for hosting us in their back yard. ❤️ We played and ate yummy food and had a devotion about being the salt and light.
