Our vision is to be a congregation centered in giving glory to God for His amazing gift revealed in the everlasting gospel of Jesus Christ. Our fellowship will connect people to Christ in a safe, welcoming family of believers, healing and discipling them for Spirit-led growth and outreach. We will actively share with our community the hope, peace and love we are finding in relationship with our soon-coming Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Free Admission: A Life Like This

Our ideas of life have grown small and stiff and cold; then here comes this radical preacher setting the countryside on fire with his words and deeds. “Turn around! Change your direction! Just nearby here is a life full of blessing.” And in his most famous speech Jesus describes life like we had never imagined it, life in a different spot and of a different quality, life deeper and richer, life in the kingdom of the heavens. All the Men’s Kings: The Good, The Bad and The Glorious - The Kings of Judah

As our series on Kings concludes, we focus and the “good” kings of Judah. While we will explore their successes and failures, we will always see the character of God shine through. God’s mercy, compassion, redemption and restoration is on full display. These traits are not just on display for the people of Judea but for the entire world. We will see how critical it is to be united with God and how important this is to God. The story of the Kings of Judah ends in grief and despair. However, God will not leave them in this condition forever and promises are given for an eternal, righteous King of Judah.

All the Men’s Kings: Not by Might – Come Down from the Chariot

Naaman came to the prophet with everything the world calls power — a general's rank, a king's letter, horses and chariots and gold — and was told to do something small enough that he couldn't boast of it. He nearly went home uncured rather than stoop to it. The books of Kings are full of power, but underneath it all runs a quieter question: not "is this king good or bad," but "who is actually King?" — and that question follows us home, to the things we each grip too tightly and will not release.

Ahab and Naaman; two men, two chariots: one man climbs in and dies, the other climbs down and lives. A look at power, surrender, and the God who receives us before we have it all sorted out.

All the Men’s Kings: The Prophets

The history written in the books of Kings covers centuries of idolatry, corruption, and oppression. And what was God doing about it? Did he stand by silently as this people, appointed to be a light to the world, descended into darkness? Did he impatiently give them what they deserved? Did write them off and abandon them? The words of the Hebrew prophets are often scathing, with terrible warnings and dismal predictions, because God is relentless in his love and longing for his people. “Turn, turn!” he says. “Be my people and let me be your God!”

ALL THE MEN’S KINGS: Half-Hearted or Whole-Hearted?

I wonder what God's visceral reaction is when He hears one of us reference a passage from the 11th and 12th books of the Bible. Just to hear the name of the books of Kings is an affront to the Almighty. After all, the concept of a king was not His idea. In fact, He strongly discouraged it, as He never wanted it. As we continue our series in Kings, we will discuss the one thing He really wanted. I look forward to our shared journey of discovery to that one goal this week!

ALL THE MEN’S KINGS: Jeroboam and the I.N.S.A.N.E. River

The Old Testament can be difficult to read for many reasons. Understanding God’s interaction with the people of Israel 3,000 years ago requires effort, patience, and a willingness to engage with a culture very different from our own. The books of the Kings are filled with 450 years of dramatic history, unsettling stories, brutal warfare, political intrigue, assassinations, child sacrifice, betrayal, rebellion, miracles, idol worship, and well-known biblical figures. At times, it can feel more like a record of human failure than a story of faith.

And yet, this is where God meets His people.

What if the difficulty is not something to avoid, but something to wrestle with? How do we read these stories in a way that moves beyond confusion and discomfort, revealing a deeper, more honest picture of God’s relationship with His people?

Love Is Not Optional
