Day 3: The Gift of Repentance
Reading: Acts 11:15-18 and Psalm 51:1-12
Devotional: We tend to think of repentance as a burden, a hard requirement placed on guilty people by a demanding God. But Scripture tells us something different. Repentance is a gift. The leaders in Jerusalem marveled that God had granted repentance even to the Gentiles. David, after his devastating sin, did not hide behind a general confession. He got specific. He brought the full weight of his failure before God and found mercy. God does not convict us of sin to crush us. He convicts us so that we can receive the gift He is already holding out – freedom from the bo***ge of what we have carried far too long.
Reflection: Have you been offering God a general acknowledgment of sin while avoiding the specific thing He is asking you to bring before Him?
Practical Application: Spend time in honest, specific prayer today. Name the sin. Receive the gift. Trust that His faithfulness meets you precisely at the point of your repentance.

Day 2: The Danger of a Divided Heart
Reading: Matthew 6:19-24
Devotional: Abijam believed in the Lord God of Israel. He was not an atheist. He simply refused to give God his whole heart. He kept one foot in the temple and one foot at the altar of a false god. Jesus makes clear that no one can serve two masters. A divided heart does not produce a diminished faith – it produces a false one. When we pick and choose the parts of God we find convenient, we are not worshiping God at all. We are constructing an image of Him that fits our preferences. God does not want a portion of you. He wants all of you.
Reflection: Is there an area of your life that you have withheld from God, treating your faith as a buffet rather than a full surrender?
Practical Application: Identify one specific area where your devotion to God has been partial. Pray over it today and ask God for the strength to surrender it fully to His lordship.

Day 1: The Faithfulness of God’s Word
Reading: 2 Samuel 7:8-16
Devotional: God’s faithfulness is not measured by the comfort of our circumstances. It is measured by His unbreakable commitment to speak to us through His Word, again and again. The Davidic covenant reminds us that God binds Himself to His promises regardless of what surrounds us. When life feels uncertain, when justice seems delayed, when the road grows dark, God has not gone silent. He continues to come to us. His Word is His faithfulness made tangible. Today, do not judge His faithfulness by what you see. Judge it by what He has said.
Reflection: In what area of your life have you been measuring God’s faithfulness by circumstances rather than by His Word?
Practical Application: Set aside ten minutes today to read one promise from Scripture and write it down. Carry it with you as a reminder that God’s faithfulness is rooted in His Word, not in your situation.

Day 5: Choosing Daily to Turn Your Heart Toward God

Reading: 1 John 2:15; John 10:10
Devotional: The enemy of your soul comes to steal, kill, and destroy. He offers a world full of promises that ultimately leave you empty. Christ comes offering life in abundance, a life rooted in purpose, relationship, and eternal hope. The choice between these two is not made once. It is made every single day. Rehoboam’s tragedy was not one catastrophic decision but a pattern of daily choices that led him away from God. Your story does not have to follow that pattern. Every morning, before the noise of the world rushes in, set your heart deliberately toward God. That daily decision changes everything.

Day 4: Salt, Light, and Staying Distinct

Reading: Matthew 5:13-14
Devotional: Jesus calls His followers salt and light in a decaying and darkened world. Salt that has lost its flavor cannot purify anything. Light hidden away cannot illuminate anything. When believers quietly accommodate the values of the surrounding culture to avoid conflict or discomfort, they forfeit the very influence they were created to carry. Rehoboam allowed the high places and idols to remain standing throughout his reign. He never took a decisive stand. We are called to something better. Living distinctly does not mean living harshly. It means loving people enough to show them a different and better way, the way of Christ.

Day 3: Renewing the Mind Against a Conforming World

Reading: Romans 12:2
Devotional: Rehoboam grew up watching idols on the surrounding hills. Over time, what was once shocking became ordinary. The same erosion happens to us. The world around us normalizes what Scripture calls evil, and slowly our senses are dulled. Paul commands us not to be conformed to this age but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. This renewal happens through consistent time in God’s Word and in prayer. Like daily food, Scripture sustains us even when we do not feel its immediate effect. Commit to daily renewal. What you consistently feed your mind will eventually shape your heart.
