✝🙏 Thought for Pentecost week, and our call to prayer:

Spirit of the Living God,
Fall fresh on me,
Spirit of the Living God,
Fall fresh on me.
Melt me, mold me, fill me, use me.
Spirit of the Living God,
Fall fresh on me.
Soul of heaven, heart of God,
wash over me.
Soul of heaven, heart of God,
wash over me.
Cleanse me, teach me, hold me, reach me.
Soul of heaven, heart of God,
wash over me.
Holy presence, love divine,
cast out my fear.
Holy presence, love divine,
cast out my fear.
Shield me, free me, call me, lead me.
Holy presence, love divine,
cast out my fear.

(Lyrics by Daniel Iverson and Lowell Alexander)

What better way to celebrate Pentecost than a birthday party⁉️🥳

Pentecost is often described as the “birthday of the Church” in Christian tradition. According to the New Testament in the Acts of the Apostles, Pentecost marks the moment when the Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles, empowering them to begin spreading the Christian message publicly.

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION NEWS: We began our church school year with the Bible verse Matthew 5:16, "Let your light shine before others that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." During our May Sunday School sessions, we've been revisiting this year-long theme and learn about people in the Bible who demonstrated kindness, forgiveness, and compassion -- isn't that what we need more of in this world?

We'll continue to encourage our child parishioners to reflect upon these people and their stories, and how they might follow in their footsteps.

This Sunday, we'll learn about The Good Samaritan, and next Sunday, we'll discuss how Jesus Blesses the Children. Won't your family join us?

Learn more about our Christian education program at https://www.fcchanover.org/christian-education/, registration is rolling. All are always welcome here!
