Join us tonight at the Hannibal church of Christ at 7 PM as we gather for another opportunity to worship God, encourage one another, and grow in the knowledge of His Word.

Our 7:00 PM Midweek Service begins with a brief devotional before we separate into Bible classes for all ages.

In the auditorium adult class, we will continue a study of "Textual Criticism: How We Got the Bible." This lesson will examine the remarkable preservation of God's Word through the centuries, how the biblical text has been faithfully transmitted, and why we can have confidence that the Bible we hold today accurately reflects the inspired Scriptures originally given by God. We will discuss manuscripts, scribes, translations, and the evidence that demonstrates the reliability of the biblical text, equipping Christians to answer questions with confidence and appreciation for God's providence in preserving His Word.

"The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever." (Isaiah 40:8)

We would love for you to join us as we study the Bible together.

From John J. Exum:
“Why Study Religious History?

Studying religious history helps us understand how the religious world became what it is today. It allows us to trace the development of doctrines, movements, institutions, controversies, reforms, and departures that occurred through the centuries. By knowing what happened before us, we can better recognize both the consequences of abandoning biblical authority and the importance of continually returning to the Scriptures as our standard. Religious history does not replace Bible study. Rather, when examined in the light of Scripture, it helps us learn from the past, understand the present, and remain committed to “the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 3, WEB).”

JOIN US NEXT SUNDAY — SEPTEMBER 6, 2026

We invite you to join us at the Hannibal church of Christ this next Sunday as we gather to study God’s Word and worship Him together. We have three opportunities throughout the day to open the Scriptures and grow in our understanding of God’s will.

9:30 AM — Bible Class
The Fourfold Gospel Chronologically Studied: The Life of Christ
We will continue our study of the life and ministry of Jesus Christ, turning our attention to John 13. This chapter brings us into the final hours before Jesus’ crucifixion, including His example of humble service in washing the disciples’ feet, His teaching concerning betrayal, and His command that His disciples love one another. We will consider what these events reveal about Christ and the kind of disciples He calls us to be.

10:25 AM — Morning Worship
“Why Am I A Member Of The church Of Christ?”
As part of our ongoing “The Great Commission And…” sermon series, we will consider a very personal and important question: Why am I a member of the church of Christ? We will examine from Scripture why the church matters, what distinguishes the church belonging to Christ, and why our membership should rest upon biblical conviction rather than tradition, preference, or convenience.

The outline for this lesson is credited to the late Roy J. Hearn, who served as a director of the Memphis School of Preaching.

6:00 PM — Evening Worship & Bible Class
The Minor Prophets: Zephaniah
Sunday evening we will continue working through the text of Zephaniah. This powerful prophetic book warns of God’s judgment against sin while also emphasizing the necessity of seeking the Lord, humility, repentance, and faithfulness. As we continue through the text, we will consider both its original message and the principles it teaches us about taking God and His Word seriously today.

We would be glad to have you with us for any or all of these studies. Bring your Bible, bring your family, and come study the Word of God with us!
