How do you pray when you are frustrated? When life seems unfair? How do we honestly pray with the events of our world and everyday news in our nation?

There is an Old Testament prophet we need to hear from who will be a mentor for this generation as we seek to walk with Jesus. His name is Habakkuk and there are some great ways we can learn from him this week.

Please gather, or regather with Hannibal Nazarene. Come as you are. First time, be great to have conversation, hopefully of many to come!

We will be starting around 9:30 with small group / Sunday school bible growth and around 10:40 collectively in the main sanctuary. This Jesus assembly is at 4000 West Ely.

Absolutely amazed at how God through the Holy Spirit is opening new doors and providing a pathway for growth, being stretched. Let's be in prayer as we gather at the Nazarene and for all the local communities of faith who love Jesus. Maranatha, "Come Lord Jesus, Come!"

These are the brief thoughts shared just a week ago last Thursday regarding our friend and brother, Rich Adair in whom we celebrated his life and joined together in his memorial service.

This morning with God’s help we have come to remember, grieve and celebrate a life of significance. We gather by choice because we have hearts filled with gratitude. We come with deep expressions of the heart because of deep impressions that have been engraved on our heart. . We are reminded for our beloved, he faced the doorway called death with assurance, celebration and triumph. And that too can be shared by every one of us, by knowing, following and walking with Jesus, as he did, so we too can know with absolute resolve this farewell is not final.

We welcome you during these treasured minutes, to praise and thank God for the precious life of Richard Adair who transitioned from his temporal rural home outside New London, Wednesday evening, July 29th to his forever home already prepared for him. Rich was not alone as his family with dear friends gathered beside his bedside at homegoing time and clearly not alone when Jesus transitioned him to the open gates of glory with these words, “Enter in good and faithful child.”

PFD ~ I have a friend who is passionate about PFD. Thank you Steve for being influential in putting this idea, analogy, metaphor and word picture in mind. Your stepdad, Rich would be so proud of you being adamant that PFD is with you and on you.

What in the world is PFD? Personal Flotation Device: "A life jacket or buoyancy aid worn while boating, kayaking, or swimming to prevent drowning."

There are multiple safety instruments and tools we can have at our disposal to protect our life, to guard us, to keep us from drowning.

All of us are navigating on a journey. Sometimes we are floating along. Sometimes we are swimming. Sometimes we are given a triumphant gift of walking on water.

JESUS is our PFD. He has come to save our life. He has come to give us life. He has come to forgive us our sin for everlasting eternal life.

Have you been clothed with your PFD, Jesus Christ? Jesus isn't sold as a commercial item at any store, marketplace or online. He offers Himself gladly, willingly and freely wherever you are. Today you may be treading water, just barely able to survive. Jesus jumps into the water with you to save you, to rescue you, to life of hope for the best of times and the most challenging times.

Please receive Jesus, embrace Jesus, clothe yourself with Jesus, the ultimate PFD for this life on earth and beyond.

Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh (Romans 13:14).

Serious ~ as being intentional, committed, earnest, wholehearted, not joking around, not playing games, completely devoted, all in. That is the serious question in being a follower, disciplined disciple of Jesus Christ.

Scripture, what Jesus spoke is clear about doing things in Jesus name, but furthermore about knowing Jesus. Jesus says: "Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers (Matthew 7:22-23)!" KNOWING Jesus is the truth proof over what is done in His name. KNOWING Jesus requires pursuing Christ, listening to Him, Loving Him, talking with Him, serving Him and following Him. Receiving God's gift of grace through the blood sacrifice of Christ actually means present tense journeying with Jesus.

Today's culture in the world will do everything to distract from actually KNOWING Jesus. The tactic of the enemy is using any method possible for a serious disciple of Jesus to "shrink back" on the spiritual pathway in pursuing Christ. There is a call to being a devoted disciple of Jesus: "But we do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved (Hebrews 10:39)." "They triumphed over him (accuser, devil) by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death."

PLEASE do not settle for mediocrity, apathy, being lukewarm, half-hearted, on the fence. If there has ever been a time in our current history where we are at and what is coming, it is time to decide and devote ourselves to following Jesus, no turning back, no turning back.
