Day 4‘s progress!

I’m sorry we didn’t post yesterday but here is what happened!!!

Posts are set to put up our new sign. I’m so excited to see it mounted!

The outdoor crew went around trimming low/dead limbs and hauling them off. They also finished filling potholes on the Levering St side. The pothole in the picture is ove 8ft long, over 2ft wide, and about 4 or more inches deep!

A closet was built around the furnace, hiding it and providing some storage space. the entrance to the bathrooms was finished off and doors hung. And new sills under the windows in the lighthouse room were installed.

Not pictured were the dozens of old florescent fixtures and other scrap metal that was hauled to the recycling, and the 4 old air units that were taken apart in order to be recycled.

Once again a ton of work done in one day. The team is spending the weekend doing fun activities and resting. They will hit things again Monday!

Day 3

The team is knocking it out of the park!

New walls are starting to go up in the bathroom to split the one bathroom into two. All the walls that needed to be removed in the apartment are! There is a large space now for a kitchen and living area. The master bedroom is opened up. We found an awesome archway that was original to the building when it was an orphanage, but was covered up so we had no idea it was there. That whole wall was supposed to come down, but now that wall is staying! The road crew filled the massive potholes on the levering side until they ran out of cold patch. More got delivered this afternoon so they will be able to finish patching the road tomorrow! They are even loading up the old light fixtures and other scrap metal so we can recycle them and free up space!

We can’t express how grateful we are for this group. For all their hard work and great attitudes. We are so blessed to have them here.

Day 2

Wall down and concrete removed to level the floor in the bathroom. Sheetrock removed and walls coming down in the apartment. As many 2x4s as possible are being repurposed. Dumpster emptied and filled again. Potholes on the Rackliffe drive are patched. Logs split and stacked. Limbs removed.

What a day!! These guys are killing it and doing it with a great attitude!

Tomorrow we will patch potholes on the levering side. Start framing new walls and hang doors to separate the two sides of the bathroom. Build a wall to hide the furnace/give us some storage space and continue removing walls in the apartment space.

Big thanks to Jeremy’s Dad and his buddy for bringing a tractor and log splitter to help us with the big chunks!!

The team arrived this morning and got to WORK!!

In one day the showers are removed, walls and ceiling are coming down in the office to make room for the 3 bedroom missionary apartment, a dumpster that was dropped off today is full and ready to dump, and the 9 trees that were cut down Saturday (thanks to Josh Joshua Wayne Davis) are cut up and stacked. Several loads of branches were already hauled off!

Also a special thank you to Bob Craig for all his help, and the Bethel Baptist Association for the use of their chainsaw trailer and other equipment!

I’m so excited for all the progress!!!

Hey everyone, we have exciting news!!

Our friends the Hummistons are bringing a team from Pioneer Bible Translators to do work projects here at Remain!!!

They are going to help us by doing some demo in the next work project area, patching holes in our drive, and most likely some landscaping around the property.

We need your help though! They are wanting to help do some of the work and construction needed for our current lighthouse room project. So we need money to fund these projects. The more money we can raise the more project can get done. They are bringing a contractor with them so a ton can get done if we have the money for materials.

Our goal is to raise $5000 this month! This will allow us to accomplish so much towards the completion of this project!

I haven’t given an update on the Lighthouse Room renovation in a while. We worked really hard to get the space ready for a local ministry to use it. Now it’s time to make more progress!

We still need funds to finish this project. Big ticket items include flooring and cabinets for the lighthouse room and bathrooms. The last picture is a rendering of the cabinets going into the lighthouse room.

Please consider giving to this project so our facility can be more useful to the community around us.
