Due to family concerns, Rev. Beth is pausing her community office hours at Fiddleheads for the time being. She may begin offering Zoom office hours soon. Stay tuned for updates!

What a beautiful gesture.

The joyful sounds of a jazzy old piano and conversations between people who have known each other for years and some who just met, as they get ready to share a meal.

This is Brunch Church.

This is the kin-dom of God.

What a feast of food and conversation we had today! This might have been the most delicious Brunch Church ever!

This Sunday, June 21 is both the solstice *and* our next Brunch Church/ Community Brunch!

In February of 2024, we decided to try a "small experiment with radical intent" and replace a worship service with a meal. Our idea was to try one Sunday of shifting folks from pews that all face one direction listening to one or two people, to tables of 4-6 where we face each other and engage in conversation. It went so well, we did it again that July, and then again in November.

Now, more than two years later, it has transformed from experiment to familiar and beloved practice, monthly giving ourselves and the community a chance to share a delicious potluck meal, get to know one another better, and experience a safe and welcoming space that is less institutional church and more the kind of thing Jesus actually did. Less religion, more relationship.

We sing together (this month, Lift Every Voice and Sing in honor of Juneteenth), offer gratitude for the meal, and then start eating and chatting. Our conversation starter (if you need one) is to share some summer memories!

We hope you'll join us, whatever your faith or religious background. This is a place where Christians, Jews, atheists, agnostics, pagans, Buddhists, the spiritual-but-not-religious crowd, and anyone else can come practice being neighbors. Love, food, and zero pressure to ever sit in a pew for worship.

9:45am in the Vestry (the brick building next to the Meetinghouse in the center of town).

We'll see you there!

Our bead prayer this past Sunday had us focusing on "hallowing."

To name something as hallowed--as God did the day of rest at the conclusion of six days of creating in Genesis 2--is to set it apart, to mark it as holy. To worship something is to note that it is worthy of praise.

Prayer can be tricky for many of us. We're not sure to whom (or what) we are praying, or what the purpose or intended outcome is. When this happens, it can be helpful to begin by simply paying attention to what is around us or on our minds and hearts, and name it as hallowed.

Hallowed be the sunshine.
Hallowed be the neighbor who is sick.
Hallowed be the hummingbird.
Hallowed be the breath.
Hallowed be the hungry.

What would you name as hallowed right now?

Unfortunately, Rev. Beth has to cancel community office hours this morning, 6/2, but look for a Midweek Moment tomorrow, and don't forget to register for the prayer bead workshop on Saturday!
