Scripture: John 1:1-14

“This is a lighthouse unto the region that will be filled with the Light of Jesus Christ! ... And it will go out unto the region, and it will be filled with the Love of God, a living God. And it will shine forth the Love of God

by the power of His Holy Spirit. God will manifest His glory in this house! You will see people saved, you will see people delivered, you will see people healed, you will see lives changed, you will see people who were in darkness—that Light will call in people out of the darkness and bring them into a harbor of safe-keeping in this tumultuous world and the horrible things that are going on right now. This will be a place of Presence. This will be a place of the power of God. You will see healings and signs and wonders that have not been seen since the time of Jesus Christ. This is going to be a place of miracles. This going to be a place where the prodigals are going to come home, those that have been out—and they knew God at one time and they are now in the pigpens eating pea pods, and they’re going to be saying ‘surely in my Father’s house the servants are treated better than this.’ They are going to come into this house, and they’re going to be filled. And they’re going to come in with their heads hanging down, full of shame—but they are going to be delivered from that! They’re going to healed. The Father is going to throw a robe of righteousness upon them and put on a ring of ownership. And there will be celebration! This shall be a house of jubilee! This will be a house where God is alive and well and present, and the Love of God will be manifest. This is a lighthouse unto the region, and He will draw people from the north and the south and the east and the west. And they shall come, and there shall be an awakening and a great revival! God is about to shake things up, and all that can be shaken will be shaken. But His throne cannot be shaken, and we are His children because we believe in His Name!

“You will find Me when you seek Me, if you seek Me in earnest.” (Jeremiah 29:13)…Many of us think that we can’t “see” God in the everyday, but the truth is, His artistry, majesty, faithfulness and steadfastness can be seen in all four seasons. It’s the glory of God, or as John Piper explains it, “It is the going-public of His holiness. It is the way He puts His holiness on display for people to apprehend. So, the glory of God is the holiness of God made manifest.” And anyone can “see” God in the everyday, just as long as you’re looking for Him.

One summer day, a man on vacation woke up surprised to see the sun when all the forecasts were promising rain. And so he decided to walk the beach, with everyday thoughts and everyday “to do” things on his mind, accompanied by a grumbling stomach in need of breakfast. Nothing spiritual about any of it. But then he just so happened to check his phone for the Bible verse of the day, and it was this: “The heavens are telling of the glory of God, and the expanse of heaven is declaring the work of His hands. Day after day pours forth speech, and night after night reveals knowledge.” (Psalm 19:1-2). And as the man looked up from his phone, he couldn’t believe his eyes—he was “seeing” what God had just said about Himself (pictured). Glory!

And it’s just as true today as it was that summer day. Our God, in one way or another, will always speak to us, every…single…day. We just need to look for Him. Let’s be going…

“With every sun’s rising, surprise us with Your love, and satisfy us with Your kindness. Then, we will sing with joy and celebrate every day we are alive.” (Psalm 90:14, Voice)

Or, in the words of John Piper: “There are daily wonders that will awaken worship IF I open my eyes.” Don’t waste this day or your life. O Lord, wake up the wonder…even if it’s cloudy!

“Where can I go from Your Spirit? Where can I flee from Your presence?” (Psalm 139:7)…These early morning moments of devotion and quiet, perhaps pausing to gaze out into the green of the forest, can feel like heaven on earth. But they are a launching pad more than a resting place. We are meant to carry our moments of devotion with us on our day’s journey. Because God will be just as close to us in a meeting, while pumping gas, or mowing the lawn.

We know this…we forget this! It just takes re-awakening. No wonder David could say, “Taste and see [in all you do] that the Lord is good!” (Psalm 34:8) Taste and see it daily…hourly…minute-by-minute. Keep cultivating that wonderful early morning moment of devotion and quiet…

“God is always nearer than you can imagine Him to be. God is so near that your thoughts are not as near as God; your breath is not as near as God; your very soul is not as near to you as God is. And yet, because He is God, His uncreated being is so far above us that no thought can conceive it, nor words express it.” (AW Tozer). Wow. Let’s be going…

"Philip said to Him, 'Lord, show us the Father and then we will be satisfied.' Jesus said to him, 'Have I been with you for so long a time, and you do not know Me yet, Philip, nor recognize clearly who I am?’" (John 14:9)…The more you read the gospels, the more you get Philip. If you had been him, you’d have probably felt as clueless, blind, fearful, thick-skulled, and puzzled at times by Jesus’ parables on life, His way of life... His life, period. Yet like Philip, even though never totally getting Him, you realize there is something extraordinary about Jesus that keeps drawing you in closer and with greater resolve, sometimes against all odds, pulling you along to see what’s next on this crazy, wonderful Journey.

God made sure Philip got included in the gospels. He probably wanted to let us know that He gets us. Philip's honest, "I-can't-believe-I'm-saying-this-but-I'm-going-to-say-it-anyway" question is hope for us all— that this Walk is a lifetime of knowing and being with Jesus more than ever, and yet never fully knowing Him; of being at times surprisingly filled with Heaven-sent discernment and yet at times being earthbound clueless; of walking through seasons of unshakable belief as well as ones of dizzying doubt.

Never really knowing and seeing Jesus clearly every day is not only normal, it's all part of The Plan of faith and trust. God is God, and we are not. It means turning all our “I’m not seeing it” moments on its head by adding one simple three-letter word at the end…Yet.
“I give You back today the prayers I’ve prayed that are not answered—yet.
The seeds I’ve sown that haven’t borne harvest—yet.
Restore the years, the prayers, the trust that the locusts have eaten. Remember me, Lord, redeem my life, and answer my oldest, truest, prayers. Amen.” (Pete Greig). Let’s be going…

“…He himself gives life and breath to everything, and He satisfies every need.” (Acts 17:25)…Jesus said…Jesus still says…Jesus will always say…

“…I AM the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”—John 6:35
“…I AM the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”—John 8:12
“…I AM the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures.”—John 10:9
“I AM the good shepherd. The good shepherd sacrifices his life for the sheep.”—John 10:11
“…I AM the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying.”—John 11:25
“…I AM the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”—John 14:6
“…I AM the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.”—John 15:5
“I AM the Alpha and the Omega—the beginning and the end…I AM the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come—the Almighty One.”—Revelation 1:8

“God is faithful! He will remain faithful because He cannot change. He is perfectly faithful, because God is never partly anything. God is perfectly all that He is and never partly what He is. You can be sure that God will always be faithful. The faithful God, who never broke a promise and never violated a covenant, who never said one thing and meant another, who never overlooked anything or forgot anything, is the Father of our Lord Jesus, and the God of the Gospel. This is the God we adore.” (A.W. Tozer) Let’s be going…

“For everything, absolutely everything, above and below, visible and invisible, rank after rank after rank of angels—everything got started in Him and finds its purpose in Him. He was there before any of it came into existence and holds it all together right up to this moment.” (Colossians 1:15-17, Message)

This is Jesus that Paul’s talking about. Great is His faithfulness to us, over and over again! And on those days when we forget that all things are possible and nothing is impossible with Jesus, when our faith gets strained or weary, or when we’re facing a situation that makes our heart feel like it’s pounding out of our chest in worry, there is this to remember…

You are not “the Big Guy”
You are not “the Man upstairs”
You are not just a “higher power”
You are not just a man to be respected but
You are Lord of Lords—the plural of ALL majesty!
You alone are ALL power, ALL authority
You alone are ALL-sovereign
You alone are maker of ALL heaven and earth
You alone are master and ruler over ALL-everything
ALL things are possible for You
And because I believe in You, that means ALL I am belong to You, too
So I can cast ALL my cares upon You—ALL of them
And this whole world—my whole world—even today, is ALL in Your hands
And You love ALL that is Yours
And You care for ALL that is Yours
And You never change—from everlasting to everlasting, You are my ALL in ALL
Lord of Lords—a plural of ALL majesty!
You are…worthy of ALL my praise, ALL my life
ALL the time, for ALL of my days.
Help me never to forget ALL that, so help me, God…

"The LORD bless and keep you...protect you, sustain you, and guard you. The LORD make His face shine upon you with favor and be gracious to you...surrounding you with lovingkindness.
The LORD lift up His face upon you with Divine approval, and give you peace...a tranquil heart and life.” (Numbers 6:24-26)

These powerful words typically signal the end to our church service. In some churches, a bulletin will indicate that this is “the benediction”—the last item in the service. But even though the service is ending, it’s really not. A benediction simply means "to speak well of." It begins with listening and not thinking of what we’re going do for lunch, to really hear and receive what God speaks well of us — how much He loves us in spite of our prone to wanderness—and then how much He wants us to savor and share this life that comes from sticking close to Him and His word. One definition calls that "holy joy."

What we think of as “the end” is really supposed to be the beginning as we head out those doors! Lord, help us to remember to take the benediction with us, because our worship never ends, even when the Sunday service is over…"And just because we say the word ‘Amen,' it doesn't mean the conversation needs to end..." (Steven Curtis Chapman) Let’s be going…

“He saved us because of His mercy, and not because of any good things we have done. God washed us by the power of the Holy Spirit. He gave us new birth and a fresh beginning.” (Titus 3:5)…This week has been full of “001” topics, like a daily classroom of back to the basics of things we should know but forget. It’s always a relief to be brought back to ground zero in our faith in God, because life and the deeply engrained human habit of wanting to have things our way, are constantly throwing the basics off-track. We’re all in desperate need of a roadmap…or GPS or some “find my way” app on our phone!

It’s good to know that God hasn’t said, “why didn’t I think of that?” He already knows our thoughts, intentions and ways so well. In Exodus 13, for example, God tells Israel they need to remember their freedom from slavery in Egypt by celebrating on a certain day every spring what is known as the Feast of Unleavened Bread. For seven days, no yeast is to be found in their bread, and in fact, no yeast is to be found anywhere within the borders of their land. Why? A big reason could be that yeast is something that man adds to make bread better, but God wants to remind His people: “I AM the bread of life, and that is enough.”

Thankfully, we have an everyday reminder that God is God and we are not, and that life is a gift and the Giver is good—the Bible! It’s often called a book of remembrance, because we are so quick to forget. This is our daily bread. Lord, help us to remember to eat from it today and always, and heed these wise words from a pastor: “Remember not to forget! Don’t forget to remember! Remember to remember!” 001. Let’s be going…

“The greatest person in the kingdom of heaven is the one who makes himself humble like this child.” (Matthew 18:4)…To be child-like humble on this journey does not mean to be childish, or weak, or soft. It can, in fact, mean being quite active, joyful and strong at any age—things that Jesus was and did, and has passed along to us. Things like this…

Have a kids’ untarnished heart to always learn and explore in wonder the things of God, leaving worldly cynicism and worry at the door.
Remember to love life and people like a kid simply because we know and love the One who made it and them all.
Bound along the journey in boldness and joy, even if there are a few sprained ankles along the way—because our Leader always knows the way, and He’s always got us in His grip.
Trust, feel safe, and always feel welcome in the Father’s presence simply because “How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” (1 John 3:1)
Have a kid’s walkie-talkie lifestyle—always talking and listening to the Leader for guidance.
Always look Up in honor and admiration—because we’ve got the Mentor of all mentors on our side.
Remember to smile and laugh, and even spontaneously shout for joy like a kid…do it often, before the whole world.

Carry these child-like moments with you today, and carry them often…because it’s easy to forget that this is what walking with Jesus in His Kingdom here on earth is supposed to look like. Let’s be going…
