www.olamnuns.com In 1961, Mother Angelica, a Poor Clare nun from Canton, Ohio, came to Irondale, Alabama with four other nuns in order to establish a new monastery. Twenty years later, having seen the potential to reach many souls throughout the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ by means of electronic media, she founded the Eternal Word Television Network. This network grew from a small studio in the monastery garage to become the largest religious media network in the world. As a result of such incredible growth, Mother sensed the need to re-establish the contemplative religious life of the nuns away from the busyness of the network. Upon visiting the Sanctuary of the Divine Jesus in Bogota, Columbia, she was inspired to build a resplendent temple of worship for the Lord. Construction was completed in three and a half years and the Shrine was dedicated on December 19, 1999.

Here’s one of our PCPA Nun’s reflection on her first profession:

One of the biggest highlights of my First Profession was the realization of an important prayer,

“draw all things into one in You, Lord.”

To me, this prayer is like a snapshot of the ultimate journey of our lives, with all its sorrows and all its joys. The journey of every part of us being transformed into Him and so becoming on in Him, to the glory of God the Father.

As I watched Bishop Baker process down the isle led by the Cross bearer, and saw my parents and siblings, relatives and close friends sitting in the front pews, and knowing all of my sisters were right behind me, I got to watch…

Last evening, we gathered for the Transitus of St. Clare of Assisi, prayerfully commemorating her passage from earthly life into eternal life.

Through candlelight and prayer, we reflected on St. Clare’s radical trust in Christ, her devotion to the Holy Eucharist, and her joyful life of poverty. May her witness inspire us to follow Jesus with undivided hearts.

St. Clare of Assisi, pray for us!
