Hey Discovery Rangers and Parents,
This will be mostly directed to my Discovery Rangers but parents please read as well.
I know things are definitely a little unusual lately with all of the talk of the Coronavirus and all of the changes with seemingly every aspect of our lives. Things can sometimes be a little scary but I want to make sure you boys know that regardless of what is going on in our world right now God is in control and this did not surprise him or catch him off guard. We talk often in Royal Rangers of how we as commanders are trying to help you boys mature and become responsible, prepared young men. I believe this is an opportunity for each of you to do just that. We are now presented with many chances in our daily lives to prove God's work in us in so many ways!
Firstly we have an opportunity to strengthen our relationship with God by spending some of the newly available time to pray for our families, friends, and our community. We can also use some of that time to read about God's plan for our lives by studying our Bible. I am also going to be working on getting you a few of our Bible Lessons that you can read and complete with your parents during our time without Royal Ranger meetings. Look for future emails.
In addition I feel like we have many opportunities to show our maturity by helping our parents and doing what can be done around our house and neighborhood as opportunity presents. There are elderly folks as well as other people that may have special needs in our communities. We may be able to find a way to be an encouragement to them by just checking on them or providing material needs that could be a huge blessing to many.
I also believe there are always learning opportunities in every situation we encounter. We also sometimes talk about preparedness. Remember, Royal Rangers are "READY!" "Ready to work, play, serve, obey, worship, live, etc..." (Hopefully all of you boys recognize our Royal Ranger Motto...). We have seen minor shortages of food and supplies as well as new procedures for interacting with people in our communities. If we are prepared for these types of situations in both material goods, knowledge, and skills, great! Even still we can evaluate our situation both in our family and in our community and begin to prepare ourselves for any future events. I know I am making notes for myself so that I can be more prepared in the future. As young men I believe you have an important role to play in helping and protecting your family and community. I believe Royal Rangers can play a crucial role in improving our world for everyone.
I'm proud of who each of you are now and who each of you will become as God directs your paths. I miss seeing each of you on Wednesday nights and hope that we will be able to be together again soon! Until then strive to be impressive young men of God.
