Today has been nothing short of gratefulness.
We heard kids stirring at 6am because they thought they would sleep through the 7:45 breakfast.
A delicious breakfast was had and off we went to Jubilee Climate farm. Look them up, it's quite a mission.
At the farm, part of us cut limbs and brush, others weeded, and the rest of us picked beans and removed the bean stakes to prepare for the upcoming sweet potato harvest. The grounds are plentiful and beautiful. A rain shower cooled us down, but even with cloud cover it was still hot and we were tired.
We found a park in Harrisburg to have lunch before we headed off to Massenutten Presbyterian Church to do more yard work. As we waited for our host, a pop up prayer happened asking God to remove the mountain of work ahead and allow us to have ice cream instead. And guess what....God answers prayers! A miscommunication regarding our schedule occurred so no more yard work was in store..... and an ice cream shop was less than half a mile away.
Back to the springs early, we had about 2 hours to rest, play, shower, nap, and write this post up until here before the giant slip and slide was rolled out. Laughter, squeals, and fast sliding made for one of the most memorable parts of our trip.
Dinner and our evening devotional filled us all in different ways. Hearing the youth talk about ways they saw God today was beautiful. Their appreciation for being with each other and helping people is moving. We worked beside two migrant workers who spoke mostly Spanish. They talked about connecting with them as fellow humans despite the language barrier. Witnessing our youth serve, laugh, pray, and sing together has been an honor.
Tonight a thunderstorm spoiled our fire pit plans, but we gathered around the table to play games, laugh, and enjoy our time being together.
This trip has been a blessing in so many ways, and we have a whole day left as we explore Harrisonburg and head back to Hampton tomorrow.
