Letter from Pastor Dave Bateman
Harmony Note February 13, 2026
The sun is shining, the temperature moderating and as Mr.
Rogers would say “It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood”. Love
is in the air as we celebrate this Hallmark Holiday with cards and
well wishes, flowers and candy expressing our love for one
another, maybe even a special evening at a favorite restaurant.
At a time when there is so much turmoil and anxiety, perhaps
this is the pause that refreshes body, mind, and spirit and allows
our better natures to flourish and be exposed, espoused and
perhaps even cherished.
We have faced and endured major snowfalls and an extended
period of below freezing temperatures to arrive at this pleasant
place and enjoy this however brief respite from the ravages of
winter. It is also a delight to witness the 2 or 3 extra minutes of
daylight adding to the joy of the changing season and our days
continuing to lengthen.
Next week on February 18 our Lenten journey begins with our
Ash Wednesday Service at 7:00 PM and culminating on Holy
Week with Maundy Thurs service on April 2nd at 7 PM, Good
Friday Services on April 3rd at 3 PM followed by Easter Sunrise
Service at 6:30 AM on the 5th. Breakfast can be enjoyed between
the Sunrise service and the regular 9 AM service time for Easter
Sunday Service. Please join us in this Lenten Journey
culminating with the Last Supper on Thursday, the Cross on
Friday, and the Resurrection on Sunday.
Beginning February 25th and each Wednesday in March, Pastor
Dave will lead a book study using Adam Hamilton’s book entitled
“Unafraid”, (Living with Courage and Hope in Uncertain Times) at
I PM in the church office. Seems like a timely topic given the
anxiety that seems to abound.
In closing, may we find Hope and Joy and Love not only on
Valentines Day, but in each day we are given to live and share.
May the Hearts and Flowers brighten each day and the
sweetness of candy and treats permeate our very being,
symbolizing all the expressions of love that endear us to each
other. Happy Valentines Day!
Blessings and Love, Pastor Dave
