Sometimes God's promises arrive in ways we never expect.

This Sunday at Hope UMC, we are pleased to welcome Karen Williams as our guest preacher while Pastor Jim enjoys a well-deserved vacation. Together, we'll journey with Abraham and Sarah as they encounter unexpected visitors, surprising news, and a promise so unbelievable that Sarah can't help but laugh. Along the way, we'll discover what these holy detours can teach us about paying attention, finding joy in unexpected places, and trusting God's grace even when the future seems impossible.

Join us as we explore:
📖 Genesis 18:1-15 (21:1-7)
📖 Psalm 116:1-2, 12-19

We are grateful for the leaders from Hope who attended this year's Annual Conference. They return with renewed energy, fresh ideas, and meaningful connections that will help strengthen our ministry and mission.

We had an exciting surprise this week as two of our new signs were installed! 🎉

A huge thank you to our Trustees for their hard work and dedication in moving this project forward. These signs are another visible reminder that Hope is continuing to make its home in Hammond and strengthen our presence in the community.

We can't wait to share more updates as we continue to grow, serve, and welcome others to Hope. Be sure to check out the new signs the next time you're in the area!

Tomorrow we begin a new four-week worship series as we journey alongside Abraham and Sarah. Their story is one of faith, uncertainty, hope, mistakes, and trust. Like us, they were ordinary people trying to follow God's extraordinary call on their lives.

Genesis 12, God invites Abram to leave behind everything familiar and step into an unknown future, trusting in God's promises. As we explore their journey together over the coming weeks, we may find our own stories reflected in theirs as we seek to follow God's leading in our lives.

The psalmist reminds us that God's steadfast love fills the earth and that God's plans stand firm forever. With hearts open to God's call and confidence in God's faithfulness, let us join together in worship.

What a meaningful way to celebrate Peace with Justice Sunday! 💜⚖️

Following worship, we gathered for fellowship with The Welcome Network and the NWI Community Response Team to learn how we can become more involved in serving and supporting our neighbors in need.

During worship, Jared Allman from The Welcome Network shared Jesus' words from Matthew 25:31-41 and invited us into a thoughtful conversation about what this scripture means for us as a congregation today. Together, we reflected on Christ's call to care for the hungry, the stranger, the sick, and those in need, and how we can put our faith into action.

Thank you to Jared and all who joined us for this inspiring morning of worship, learning, and community. May we continue to seek ways to be the hands and feet of Christ in our world.

Welcome to Hope United Methodist Church as we gather for worship on Peace with Justice Sunday.

Join us tomorrow as we celebrate God's call to be peacemakers and advocates for justice in our communities and throughout the world. Through worship, prayer, scripture, and fellowship, we are reminded that Christ calls us to love our neighbors, seek justice for all, and work for peace wherever we are planted.

We are especially pleased to welcome Jared Alman from the Welcome Network, who will bring today's message and share about ministries that offer hope, hospitality, and support to those seeking refuge and a new beginning.
