Also, Kara, thanks for the pictures of the damaged flags. I have put in a request to my Legion Post for flags to replace the damaged ones.

I hope to see everyone there on the 17th!

Thank you,

Bill

Finally, I contacted the groundskeeper a couple weeks ago and he said we could do some light clean up work at the cemetery. I will be out there September 17th at 1:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome to join us. Please bring gloves, rakes and garbage bags. Although nothing has changed with respect to the ownership issues with the cemetery, we can also hold a short meeting before the clean up to discuss any new issues.

Kara, I really wish you would have posted on the page that you were going out to clean up on the 28th. I’m sure a lot of people would have joined you. I know I would have been out there with my family. In the future lets combine our efforts. After all, that is the point of the page.

I formed this group to create a platform for concerned family members to exchange information and get involved with Oak Hill. I can see that there are now dozens of people who have visited the page and are concerned. That is exactly what I wanted!

Also, I want to make it very clear to people new to the page that this is not a political group.

Yes Oak Hill is open and we are seeking more info on new developments You can visit and ask the office Mon.-Fri. about your family,s plots. They are doing the best they can to keep the grounds up with limited funds.

Thank you for visiting my page.

Oak Hill Cemetery is the home of the gravesites of the Founding Fathers of Hammond.

My grandparents are also laid to rest there.

The cemetery has recently fallen into disrepair with tombstones atilt and covered with branches. The cemetery has financial problems and is in danger of being taken over by the State.

Lets get to work saving Hammond's history!!!
